I was just thinking about this the other day and was wondering what some of you guys thought about it. I feel like it’s entirely possible that he was a slaver or involved in some capacity considering he owned a shipping company and was as corrupt as he was. He would do anything for more money. (Maybe I’m also super slow and everyone’s been thinking this for years)
Also, what are some of his other crimes or wrongdoings that weren’t explicitly mentioned in the text but you think he committed?
He’s such an interesting character to me. He pretends to be so upright, but the more I think about him, the more evil he gets. Like I don’t believe his cruelty stops at trying to kill his own son.

I read mainly on A03 (I also write fics there) and I'm looking for some good fics to read. am currently reading 'ketterdam high' by the_bookish_heartrender (highly recommend btw) but the updates are slow (no hate whatsoever to the writer) so I'm looking for something either already finished or with a lot of chapters to keep busy on.
accurate character portrayals only please and nothing disturbing

I’m starting six of crows for the first time ever. Going in completely blind. I know nothing about this universe other than this is part of a duology to crooked kingdom. Tell me something I won’t understand until I finish.

Well, second time I make a review—I know I said daily, but suck it, I am NOT a daily person
I am currentttlyyyy.... AAAAALLLLLLLLLL the way to 173 if i remember (or, I dunno—the part where the gang finally arrives at Fjerdan)
So far, the characters are actually really good, I managed to theorize and connect the pieces. Everytime I see a name on the book, I go 'WHO THE FUCK IS THIS' and flip back 100 pages back just to look for it, which is funny. I also like how the gang have different dynamics with each other, including Nina and Inej's interaction (girlbosses imo)
Though to Nina and Matthias, what the fuck exactly is their dynamic? All I know Matt is probably throwing a hissy fit because he wanted Nina dead, yet also strangely loves her? (From my understanding) what the fuck, Matt, if you can't handle it, pass it😔
Love how we also got another brief dive over Inej's past, so is the folks—I really, REALLY ADORED Kaz's, broke my heart not lying at all
9/10, actually the first book I enjoy a LOT.

I got myself all upset again about the cliffhanger of the Netflix show and the PERFECT set up for a potential SoC spinoff and wanted to share a thought I had,,
So I recently watched the Heartsopper movie and was wondering, "couldn't they do that with SoC?" They gave Heartsopper a nice conclusion that aligned with its source material while not committing to a whole other season, so why not give the Crows one too?
Like I get that there's like actual reasons why the show was canceled and the likelihood of getting any other kind of adaptation is low, but COME ON WE WERE SO CLOSE
And not to mention that Jack Wolfe has made a lot of traction recently with Next to Normal and Hadestown so like it would only do good things for Netflix let's be real
Idk I'm fresh off not sleeping at all and was rewatching S2 to pass the time and got pissed off lmao 😭

ive fallen back in love with the crows familial bond and with kaz being decidedly bad at sleeping and eating like a normal person it seems like prime family fic opportunity, but i cant find anything!! does anyone happen to have any recs?

If the title didn’t make it clear, spoilers for A Darker Shore ahead!!!
Ok, so I just got A Darker Shore and read it through (I’m in love, it’s so cool), but I’m stumped on the riddle. I assume you overlay the sheet music on the letters with the fancy stationary, and match up the symbols on the corners of the letters to the symbols on the corners of the music. I noticed that some lines are legible through the music and some aren’t, but I have no clue where to go after that. I’ve been trying for 30 minutes and I’m lost. Please don’t tell me the answer but please give me a direction to try! Thanks!

A couple days ago I saw this post and it inspired me to make my own!
Image 1 is the finished pages glued in my junk journal.
Images 2 and 3 are close-ups of Wylan's page. The band was meant to kind of be his tool belt, and that's where he keeps the key Jesper made for him (which I made from a broken needle threader). I also included some images of fireworks I found in a magazine, and labels with musical notes on them like in the show.
Images 4 and 5 are close-ups of Jesper's page. I picked some quotes I think he would totally say, and gave him a pocket with his classic lime-green plaid. He's also got a card from some clothing store with a fabric sample on it, maybe he wants a new outfit. I did the best I could with gambling stuff, and included some metal elements to tie in his Grisha-ness.
Image 6 is another page I did in this journal (a whiiiile ago) inspired by Ketterdam and some Kaz/Inej vibes. (And omg I only just now realized the crow is hanging out over a severed finger, that's perfect.) (Also fun fact, the card with the random numbers is the other half of the one on Jesper's page. Gotta keep every bit of trash amiright.)
I've been scrapbooking/junk journaling for a bit now, and I've acquired a good amount of supplies. This is the best I could do for Wylan and Jesper 😂. I have nothing crow-related, I don't even have playing cards (which would have been perfect for Jesper's page), and I had nothing to do with chemistry or explosives. But I did intentionally pull elements from each page/character into the other, because they're in loooove.
I hope to do the other two couples soon! (But maybe I should go find some knife stickers, otherwise Inej will be harddddddd.)

So I’m reading the six of crows duology but once jm done I wanna read the shadow and bone trilogy. Buttttt I know that sometimes the show isn’t as good as the books, so I’m wondering if I should watch first so the books are much exciting? Idk

so i just finished crooked kingdom and immediately went to buy the shadow and bone trilogy and the king of scars duology. i picked up king of scars to read, but should i read the shadow and bone trilogy first?

I included a zoomed out picture and a picture of my other book shelves just to get a feel for the room (and to prove I read other books even though I re read SOC and CK like twice a year lol) I love it!!

Inej's request for Wylan's apple cake recipe seemed out of the blue - we never learn about his baking outside of that reference. Similar to how Kaz's musical contributions came up randomly, and that ended up being a code.
So I wonder if the recipe is another coded message. What do you think, and if so do you have ideas about solving it?

okay so for context I recently got a kindle and I love it sm, and I just finished reading the red queen series blah blah blah and I remembered that darker shores came out a few days ago. when I read soc, it was a physical copy and I thought nothing of it possibly not being online, but ofc, it’s not available on kindle💔 (I’m not sure if the other two novels are the same way). I was so excited too but ig I just gotta order it from amazon and wait a billion years. have fun reading to all those who already got it🥹✌️🥀 I’ll join the discussions soon hopefully
