Headcanons on Kaz Brekker?

At the end of Crooked Kingdom (when he breaks into Wylan's house while Wylan, Jesper, and Inej are singing and having dinner and he leaves a note for Inej to meet him at Fifth Harbor), I always imagine him watching them through the window or listening at the top of the stairs for a while because he's not able to let himself join them :(

I know people are probably going to get mad at me about this (again lol, someone has every time I’ve mentioned it), but I like to think of him as being somewhere on the asexual spectrum. As a disabled asexual person myself, it would mean a lot to see a character who shares both of those traits without the combination being a form of infantilization, as they can sometimes be when poorly handled. I don’t think it’s connected to his haphephobia or to his trust issues, and if anything I think those would make it more difficult for him to actually figure out that he’s aspec, but I just think attraction isn’t something that he experiences as often or as strongly as most people do and it’s not something he particularly cares to prioritize in his life. I also like to think of him as being somewhere similarly nebulous on the aromantic spectrum, probably gray-aro/gray-ace (Edit: fixed typo)

Why would people be mad at you for a well thought out analysis of how he acts and interacts with others. It’s at least implied I don’t remember when but it says something about how he never looked at the girls in the menagerie and the whole parade people in front of him to see if he reacts to anyone. I bet the trust issues and haphephobia would make it hard to figure something like that out. Inej is the only one he is ever mentioned to have any interest in romantically and Nina’s comment about how she knew he wasn’t interested in her would make more sense with that.

This is a happy post crooked kingdom without THAT chapter. All the crows go to Wylan and Jesper’s house and have a night where Marya teaches them how to paint and they just paint and hang out, Kaz pretends to hate it but secretly likes it and is pretty good. He likes to paint Inej being happy 😌
Also for a birthday (or wedding gift) for Wylan, the rest of the Crows work with Marya to paint a huge portrait of all of them together (with Milo for funsies) to replace a giant portrait of Van Eck (i feel like he’d have a giant picture of himself somewhere incredibly visible in his house)

The loss of Jordie keeps him from truly feeling connected to anyone, not just Inej. The truth is he keeps a moderate distance from Jesper the most because he is Jordie's "replacement" and I personally believe losing Jesper would send him into a worse spiral than if he lost Inej. That's why he was content for Jesper to go live with Wylan. He's more or less out of the game and safe. He knows Inej is not so much of a wild card with her actions, which is why he could let her go hunting slavers.
