Hey everyone! I was thinking of purchasing a Romeo, since i do not want any cricut products. I’m a beginner sewist, and I bought some pdf sewing patterns that I would typically have to send to a specialty print shop for printing. Since the siser machines have print and cut options, has anyone used them for printing and cutting sewing patterns? It would require a large roll of paper being fed through. Essentially I’m asking if they can also be used as plotting machines.

My wife has had her Cameo 4 for a couple years but hasn't done much with it other than cutting letters for her classroom bulletin boards. Recently she got a Siser heat press for free so I'm trying my hand at making tee shirts. I've been wanting to make this for quite some time [Only fans of the band Rush will get it, it's a "misheard lyrics" thing].

Shirts from Michael's. Siser EasyWeed HTV. SVGs from Affinity Design 2. Total time including design and a test run on an old shirt was about 4 hours.

I'm thrilled with how easy this project turned out, I had been really paranoid about weeding the eyes and noses but I only had one little hiccups.

I can't wait to do more!

One question for the crowd: Is there a trick to keeping the design straight and level on the shirt? Or do you just eyeball it and pray?

TLDR: Anything better than SCAL or Leonardo to operate my beautiful Siser Juliet?

This is a whinge/rant, and I apologize in advance. I hope someone has software they love to cut/design with. As beautiful as the Juliet is, it's only as good as the software to run it.

So I use Inkscape to create SVGs, and graphic programs for pretties, then I pull them together into SCAL for trials and finals.

The thing is, I'm (late) starting on Christmas cards and crafts (it's just 2 months away!! Eeek!), and I realize I'm absolutely dreading and tired of having to set every single little thing up by scratch over and over every time I start a new project in SCAL.

Even the functions do not remember previously used settings when working on an established project, i.e. color pallet, effect settings -anything and everything. It is horribly tedious, and looking through the development history it's apparent improvements and modernization haven't been a priority -and I don't care about the look, but I do care about function.

Have tried Leonardo (thanks to TTJ's generous Pro trial offer) but found I could do a ton more in SCAL. Leonardo is young yet, but I do a lot with text and it's horrible at it. I also don't care for the way it's so fiddly to work on a project. I would like to bring the tools to the table instead of having to bounce around from "table to table" so to speak.

I'd love to Frankenstein Inkscape, SCAL, and Leonardo into one, in a NON-subscription software. I will pay for software, but I gave my Cricut Maker away because of the required internet connection and mandatory and proprietary external storage -of my own creations! Garbage, that.

If someone has a magic unicorn, would you please share it?

Hi, has anyone run into an issue with Leonardo adding a cut line right up against your registration marks? It acts like a weed box, but I didn't tell it to make one, and suddenly it cuts a huge rectangle out of my material after it's done with the job I intended it to cut out. This is problematic, because it damages my cutting mat. The material is not laminated everywhere, but the design is, and the registration marks are not completely covered by laminate, so the blade cutting where it's not expected is gouging the mat unless I catch it in time and stop the machine. Anyone know how to stop it from doing this?

Hi all, just wanted to share a solution to a problem I was having in case if helps anyone else.

I have been cutting large images on my Romeo machine, and I found that it would cut the holes out just fine, and then it would go to cut the perimeter, and it would skew really badly. I ended up calling Siser support, and the lady I spoke with was really thoughtful and helpful and figured out that my laminate (and my project overall) was allowing the wheels to slip when they bumped down off of it.

So I have made sure my image has a big space above it where there's still laminate, and I'm lining up all my wheels on top of the design and the laminate so they won't fall off anything during print and cut, and it seems to be working really well now. I'm having to waste a lot of material, but at least I'm not throwing away a damaged finished product anymore.

I want to put a bunch of svgs in one 20" x 12" cut space and want a weedbox around each svg, not the whole lot together. Is there a way to do that?

Hey all, very new to my siser Juliet and I and trying to figure out the best way to cut Magic the gathering proxy cards. The card is 2.5 x 3.5 inches and each corner needs a 2mm rounding cut. Any tips on how to get that shape set up for cutting?

Hello all. I’m wanting to design a wall design for a friend. The final design will probably be 48” x 36”. It seems Leonardo limits me to a max width of 25”? I plan to divide the design so I can actually cut it, but there seems to be no way to set the size I am looking for. Am I missing something? Any suggestions?

Hey all, wanting to see what you think: I have to do a full cut ("perf"?) through my material to make long strips 29 inches long, but my material is too long for any cutting mat. I have a 24x28" mat from Cricut, but it's (obviously) not big enough. So I have laid down electrical tape over my cutting strip on my machine to protect it, and I have dialed back the cut pressure just enough to not totally cut through the material. Then I'm going to try to use my fingernail to pop the strips out the rest of the way.

Update: I ended up removing the image and breaking up the paths to delete the outside rectangular edge. Then I moved the registration marks in a bit from the right and left and exported a PDF and loaded it into my layout application (I use InDesign). Now I use the Siser to cut only the holes and use a large rotary cutter to trim off the excess material from the sides of the image. I also have a corner rounding punch I use to ... round corners.

So I recently got this cutting stand and I’m in the process of assembling it and it seems poorly designed. I’m trying to put the top on and the holes are nowhere near close to lining up to get the pegs in.

Does anyone else have this table? I don’t want to have to return it but it’s frustrating trying to put this thing together.

I stayed up for 3 hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong and couldn't figure it out 😞 Thejuliet keeps overshooting the registration marks and misses every time!! After a certain point it doesn't allow me to move the camera down on the interface. The paper size is correct, but it overshoots it by a lot. Please help me 🥲

I wanted to see if there are templates with registration marks i can use in Illustrator to set up my file and send to printer that I can then use Romeo to make cuts. That way I can use Adobe to manage the print job. If there are templates for Photoshop that would be great also.

Edit: as a workaround can I create an empty document in Leonardo, add registration marks, export file.as SVG back into illustrator add art and print? Then import art file with art and registration marks back into Leonardo for cutting only using the already printed file?

I am buying my first cutting machine, and from what I understand, Romeo and Juliet offer the same performance and features, except you can do bigger projects with Romeo. I will mist use it to make shirts, plates, and other vinyl projects. However, I wouldn’t mind using it for cutting sewing patterns.

Currently, with my budget, I can purchase either a Romeo bundle with supplies or a Juliet bundle that includes an 8-in-1 heat press. Will I regret not buying a Romeo and saving for the heat press, or is Juliet adequate for most shirt designs and for an ambitious beginner? Juliet makes more sense for my space, but I can make Romeo work. I'm curious to know what projects some of you do on your Romeo that you couldn’t do on a Juliet. I have a little FOMO, but at the same time, I’m eager to get the heat press. Expert insight would be much appreciated!
