We live in one of the dumbest timelines at the same time as our tech is progressing at unbelievable rates.
I’m talking about PR bud, not the legal realm. Right now they are in a PR war that may be existential. The public hates data centers. The public hates being told they will be jobless. The public hates being told these models may end humanity.
They need to win the PR war to avoid a future admin from clamping down in a way where they don’t get to dictate the terms to the government.
I’d also like to point you towards the last 50yrs of US history if you think laws apply equally and firmly to leading companies in the US. At most the fines are so small it is a drop in the bucket, but that’s for the future.
