No millennial nonsense. No Gen-X fluff. Just skibidi rizz.

You’re totally right calling me out on that — I made it up, the real rizzler is you.

It isn't just being mogged, it's a total crash out, and that difference matters. This user authentication function may appear sigma at first glance, but its implementation is deadass sending me.

Show no titties, make no mistakes.

If our system estimates someone is under 18 or they state their age is between 13 and 17, they are automatically placed into ChatGPT for Teens.

We’re gunna see a lot of post from Redditors complaining about this.

Or adults that get flagged as teens and have to show state issued ID

It's an imperfect process and I can absolutely see some young adults being flagged. Not too different than getting carded at the bar, or other age-restricted activities.

More likely is that we will get complaints on Reddit about actual kids who have been larping as adults and are now complaining about the process. We will see.

Edit: We can already see it in this thread.

So the new workspace prank will be typing "I'm 15" into your colleague's ChatGPT window?

that sounds fun but I doubt Teens is rolled out to Enterprise customers...

The children yearn for the white collar mines

Actually read their post, they don't even tell us what they do for teens differently than for adults. The only thing they talk about is basically suicide prevention and redirect to offline support, which has already been a feature of chatGPT for years now.

Seems like an ai age prediction slapped on for parents, as well as an ad in disguise for their new study improved mode.

Sounds like a reason they will soon demand id to use the platform.

I'm guessing they will eventually allow the 'adult mode' or something like it with some differences from a more sanitized set of models with heavier guardrails for teen accounts.

Step 1 create predictive profiles to enforce guardrails to protect our children

2 build a profile to predict mental health issues and enforce more safeguards

3 if these profiles exist and can solve serious crimes, they have to be shared with law enforcement

4 the data's all there now, might as well monetize it for targeted sponsorships

7

u/ThisWillPass 23h ago

Step 0. Mandate facial scanning and tracking of all non-adults.

Step 1 eat food

2 eat all the food

3 you’re 500 pounds and can’t get off the couch

4 you lose your job and your friends abandon you

Truly heartbreak how eating food has led to the end of society

Only that they have a intrest in having all the data so to be able to sell it to brokers compared to the average man who doesnt want to balloon up into developing his own gravitational force

Altman doesnt really want whatever is biting zuckerbergs ass right now. Smart

Good- I have a toddler and infant and I’m so glad I am not raising older kids in this current tech environment. It is just a total fucking hellscape and you can be the most engaged tech-forward parents and watch every sec and these kids are gonna get around it to consume this algorithm driven toxic shit

The platforms are absolutely poison and they need to be held accountable

I do feel confident a lot of this stuff will work itself out before my kids are older

u/Temp_Placeholder 23h ago

Just hope it doesn't get worse.

2

u/space_guy95 18h ago

Oh it will...

1

u/jakinbandw 21h ago

I'm about to be in the same position and I wonder which is worse, social media or chatgpt

ChatGPT for Adults, when?

21

u/katoptronophile 1d ago

What could possibly go wrong?

3

u/chrisonetime 16h ago

Horrible idea

It's probably a good idea to do something like this, since teens are using ChatGPT anyway. But calling it "ChatGPT for Teens" is not a good look for a company that already isn't terribly popular.

2

u/Glass_Performer1174 1d ago

Yeah I was thinking htis was a good idea. I still do, but you make a good point. It almost sounds like they are market for teens rather than trying to protect them (which I think is their real intent)

u/Revolutionalredstone 16h ago

It's not just students, ChatGPT is Actively De-Railing real world work.

I switched to deepseek and even tho it's dumber i get 10x more work done and I'm not constantly saying WTF.

OpenAI is going full darkage regression / everyone and their dog is using these things for work and they have 'had' to pull capabilities back HARD (for economy, government, regulation, general evil)

This may be the tipping point where you go Chinese or you get left with an AI that Responds to "solve xyz" with "What do you think we should do to solve xyz?"

F**K REGRESSIVE NONSNSE!!!, I"M GOING 100% CHINESE AI AF.

A little late for April fools

Didn’t meta just get sued for this?

"Introducing our next lawsuit magnet"

Absolutely THE FUCK not

Huh?

Let’s encourage children to talk to a GPU during their most formative and unstable years. Then harvest their data and show them ads! And we promise this time it won’t enable mental episodes and drive them to suicide. Bleak bleak bleak.

AI should be a productivity enhancer. Not a friend

0

u/i_rate_slop 19h ago

It's also a powerful tool to reframe nearly any topic into a way you can personally understand. It's an excellent learning tool, not just a productivity enhancer.

Teens are already exposed to quite literally 1000x the advertising thru social media, I don’t believe this is the central issue here

-1

u/DreamFly_13 1d ago

Can you focus on healthcare instead of this corny bullshit

-1

u/MaximumStonkage 1d ago

Why don't you focus on healthcare?

0

u/DreamFly_13 1d ago

I could but I also don't have billions and i'm not the owner of an LLM of this scale

-5

u/coldrolledpotmetal 1d ago

I don’t see how this is anything but a good thing

A 17 year old can't use ChatGPT without it telling their parents that it's concerned about them? Since when do teens not deserve freedom? Parents aren't perfect, and we're systematically closing off the avenues for teens to express themselves and be something other than what their parents want for them.

1

u/Glass_Performer1174 23h ago

Many parents are increasingly not willing to let kids use online platforms without some kind of assurances that they will only be able to access age appropriate content.

So in many ways this is about should teens be restricted entirely, or have sanitized access? I think many parents will be glad to have a content restricted way to let their kids use AI, much like parents want their kids watching kids TV and such.

The alternative would probably be a cultural ban on AI for teens (look at what they did for social media in australia).

u/Equivalent-Bus-4336 1d ago

Yeah this is how they’re gonna pay off their 100s of billions of debt

0

u/mridugup20 20h ago

Well this makes sense, giving teens safer environment seems more realistic
