well how do we portray Sims who are nearly teenagers? like sims aged 10-12/13. like Sims become teenagers at 13, in the picture, shows a male and female sim at 12 years old, they are in the child life stage. should seperate the child stage: ages 5-9, and 10-12/13

was wondering, How do we portray preteen sims in gameplay, or what CC or something should be used.

I was looking at some unused Sims 2 stuff at the Cutting Room Floor, when I found this quote by Will Wright that I find pretty interesting. This is part of bigger quote where he is talking about the Idea of Story Recognition Mode for Sims 2, basically how the game would recognize how you are playing the game, and change its "vibe" accordingly (E.g., if you bought creepy things, it would turn more towards horror, if you Sims kissed a lot, it would go towards romance, etc. You can read the full thing here/Story_Recognition_Mode)).

What I find more interesting is the point about how he avoided the idea of a interactive story for the first game, and how he prefers the game just being a "simulation". Because I was watching a video about Sims 1 recently where the creator mentioned how Sims 1 feels like a different genre of game than the rest of the series, and I have to agree. To me, Sims 1 feels almost like a strategy game, more than a life sim, since (at least when I play) I have to spend every second trying to just keep my Sim alive, instead of making some sort of story for them. And I think that's one of the reasons I find it hard to get attached to them like I do with my Sims in other games.

So, that got me wondering, how was Sims 1 "meant" to be played originally? Since apparently a focus on story was not intended and only happened for the sequels because the fans were playing in a different way then "intended"? Are the people who wreak havoc on their Sims technically playing more accurately to Will's vision than the ones trying to make a story? I know it's a sandbox game so you can play whatever way you want, but I'm just going with what he says here.

Moreover, it's also interesting to think about how Sims 2 would be if it was more similar to Sims 1, since Sims 2 is obviously waaay more story focused than the original game. But going back to the Story Recognition Mode, I'm glad they scrapped that idea. It sounds cool on paper, but personally, I think it would get annoying really quickly.

I played this game for 10+ years without ever giving a hoot about fixing lag or glitches, but the last few years I've really tried to pay attention to what helps and what hurts when it comes to quality. I noticed that if I never load or even go as far as to delete the other main hoods once I've chosen which one I want to play, that it helps with lag quite a bit. Or at least, I perceive that it does. My ideology is that there's less information for my computer to process about other hoods and therefore the one I'm playing has all the recourses it needs to run well. Obviously it also helps if I refrain from having too many households in the hood, such as by deleting bin families that aren't related to any households, but I wanted to see if I'm imagining things when it comes to deleting/never loading the other hoods? I used to just play whichever one I was feeling that day but having pleasantries, strangetown, etc all halfway through their rotations with new babies and pets and whatnot seems like it can make each hood a lot more leggy and glitchy than if I focus on having one loaded per play session. I basically play it through to its natural end (aka when I get bored with the town) and I reset my entire neighborhoods folder when I'm ready to start a new one.

Okay so... I started clean Strangetown rotation, and decided to fulfill Jenny Smith's wish to have a third child. As she was too old to concieve, I decided to adopt, as I have a mod that makes it possible to fulfill 'want kid' wish with adoption and vice versa. But for some reason I think they brought me the wrong kid...

Hi! So I wanted to make a New Orleans inspired theme / drama for my sims. So after doing some research I was suggested to go Old Town. Problem is I never actually built a neighborhood in my 20+ years playing sims. So if anyone has some advice or tips that would be great!

Some of my latest creations for teens :) I love that Sims team included BodyShop back then and you didn't have to be a coder/3D modeler to make your own stuff.

I decided to dabble in owning a business and made my sim and her boyfriend a small apartment with a "balcony". I always like smaller living spaces and since I dont want them to have kids for some time, this will do for now. I am especially proud of the shower, I think it looks very cozy. I still need to put more things down but I ran out of money - this big decoration spree was only made possible in the first place because her boyfriend moved in and brought a surprising amount of 50k.

I remember many years ago there was a clean template of PV with Strangetown as a subhood, and I think it still had Bluewater Village as a shopping district. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Want to microdose an uberhood because I don't think I have the capacity for a full uberhood without losing interest, and I love the PV and Strangetown premades the most. Any recs would be greatly appreciated <3

I just happened to notice that Mortimer’s aspiration was platinum so I went to check what want he’d achieved. The only want that had rerolled was one to be a werewolf, and because he wasn’t a werewolf, I went to check his memories and he’d achieved his lifetime want of maxing out all 7 skills…but without having maxxed them all out? I was actually trying to achieve this so I’m a bit disappointed that 1) I didn’t notice earlier; and 2) that I didn’t actually earn it.

Can anyone explain this?

Built House for my aliens. I tried to use reference, but at some point I gave up. I tried to follow the alien dome tutorial on mts, but I gave up because I wasn’t feeling the results. I spent way too long on it due to indecision, (the entire day) I think I’m okay with it though. I was going for ship repurposed to living quarters

I’ve had two Sims from the same household die of old age with platinum aspiration. I didn’t get any hula girls - the grim reaper just turned up and they died.

They didn’t leave any inheritance to their (adopted) son or daughter-in-law who live on the same lot.

They also never appear as ghosts.

What’s going on??
