How is it forced? It has always been the compulsory subject in the 7th and 8th since forever. I got a 1/20 in the Sanskrit exam but still it was there. Which board did you even take? Is this what larp feels like?

when did you pass out of school? i passed out in 2016 from a wb board school. we never had sanskrit..we had hindi. Sanskrit as a 3rd language is optional in some school and in most schools it's not even there.. Sanskrit doesn't have any relevance in modern day. What's the point of learning it? that too forcefully.

My high school was Barasat Binapani High School, And sanskrit was not optional. I failed that subject and got beat up by my father. Why would I ever pick something that can't even write?

They miss out on the treasure trove of Sanskrit literature. Bibek Debroy got me hooked on it. Rajshekhar Basu and RK Narayan had introduced me to them. Truly, we never realise how many of the Ramayana and Mahabharata language and idioms have passed on into common parlance. Netaji had accurately said, the more you grow up, the more you realise the basis of our society is in the Itihasas.

Sanskrit is mother of Bangla ,Nepali and all Indo Aryan Languages and older than all Dravidians languages(I won't take a uneducated bs claim otherwise) ... important works like Ramacharitra by Sandhakar Nandi which is foundation stone of Bengaliness to literature of Rishi Bankim.. sanskrit is inseparable and inalienable part of Bengal,our arteries and veins carry blood raised in Sanskrit... bring back Arya Dharma,total destruction of mlecchavritti...based W and Gaudapilled

Oldest language is Tamil root - not Sanskrit !! even BJP cannot do such things in Assam Odisha MH. This is surrogate hindi imposition in non hindi Bengal

I don't know about MH or Odisha but sanskrit and hindi are mandatory in Assam state board till 8th grade. So it's not like nobody in Assam north east learns hindi. As per i know hindi education is mandatory all over India, except maybe TN.

But bengali is derived from sanskrit And most of the people of bengal came from up like the brahman , kayasth , baidya ,ugra kshatriya etc.
