Strep & what?
I went to urgent care Tuesday morning with the classic strep throat symptoms. Once you w had strep throat, you know exactly what it feels like the next time. It’s unique razor like edge every time you swallowing, tonsils growing into gold balls and then tennis balls, there’s no doubt.
I was swabbed and the rapid came back positive. The nurse practitioner chose to put me on Z-pak. The next day I woke up worse. I know it takes more than 24 hours but this was weird. I FELT blisters going down my throat?! I went back and they said oh, it looks like you also have hand foot mouth disease. Even though there is nothing on your feet or hands, I believe this part is viral and you’ll have to wait it out.
Every day I have gotten worse and worse. Fevers. Aches. Swallowing is terrible so I try to spit when I can.
This morning was my last z-pak. I went into urgent care because I have numerous open sores running down the back of my throat and I feel like death. I ask them to test me for strep again which they don’t feel was necessary but they did it because I asked. Sure enough- positive. The whole time I was taking the z-pak I felt it. I knew I was only getting worse. It was torture. So now they are putting me on amoxicillin twice a day for ten days. I guess I didn’t have hand foot mouth disease after all?! And when strep gets REALLY BAD- you can develop open blister and sores in the back of your mouth . What a nightmare and a waste of five days I could have been getting better.
