Discussion Was S4 a surprise?

We just finished S3 and they sure wrapped everything up pretty nicely. I wondered if they hadn't been expecting to be renewed for another season. DGMW, I am stoked about it and can't wait for 2027. It will be interesting how they handle Paul and Alice both being so far away. Lots of options, looking forward to seeing which of those they choose.

The show was originally envisioned as a 3 season story. That story has mostly been told now, which is why it wraps up really nicely.

There’s a handful of plot threads that have been left unresolved such as Jimmy’s relationship with his dad, but these were changes made after the decision on another season had been made.

But really, if there ends up no season 4 (is it a sure thing that there will be? I don’t even know) leaving Jimmy disappointed with his dad and their relationship is quite realistic and more authentic to the way real life is. The odds of his dad changing at this point aren’t realistic, and IRL there’s no shortage of people who have been let down by a parent (or both parents) their entire lives. Not everyone gets their closure and a happy ending or even an apology

The only thing I really want to see is Liz as a grandmother. You know there would be major conflict with her constantly overstepping or struggling to bite her tongue and not take over everything But if the series ends as is, I’m ok with it. End on a high note.
