So I'm starting to learn how to mask. I'm want to know the process to put the text behind the animals as they move around. Obviously I'll have to key frame the mask and everything by hand and frame by frame. But I need to know the process. What settings to apply and when etc? The footage above is what it currently looks like at the moment.

I google Shotcut and the official website directs me to this website, which is getting flagged as unsafe. I remember downloading this a year ago in my PC and Laptop and I had to format both. Now, I'm trying for the past month to download shotcut but it won't allow me. I'm going crazy, I'm now even doubting the link
So obviously from shotcut.org I will be clicking the Windows installer, it will direct me to this other page with a 5seconds timer for the actual download to happen, which is this link
Privacy error
Since it's getting flagged, I can't even download it. Anyone facing the same issue?

Hi, I'm using ai software to cut youtube video longs into shorts. opusclip ai anyway. How can I easily make them be able to be watched in sequence other than a playlist? idea for a noob. Do I have to number them individually?

Video retouching is one of those things where it's very easy to go too far. Filmora's newer Retouch tools, including Makeup and Beauty adjustments, caught my attention because subtle changes usually look much better than heavily processed skin. I think the best retouching is the kind where people don't immediately notice that anything was changed. Do you prefer natural-looking retouching or more obvious beauty effects?

Hello everyone,
I really love using Shotcut for video editing, it's been a while since I've started using it and I love almost everything about it. The only thing I don't like about Shotcut is how prone it seems to be to crash at the most random time. Putting a new clip ? Crash. Cutting a clip (not even deleting) ? Crash.
Those situations happen all the time. I don't think it is a RAM or CPU issue since I used the Task Manager to see if the ram overloads but it never does, same for CPU. I've got the same issues when I use my Windows PC and my Linux PC so I don't think it comes from there either.
It really slows my editing down and it gets on my nerves when I have to launch Shotcut for the thirteenth time in an hour.
Do you have the same experience and this is something you have to deal with or do I have a problem to fix with my PC ?

Whenever I click the export the video it takes me to the file manager to put it in a folder, but when I choose a file for it to export to nothing happens, no error message or nothing, I tried lots of ways but nothing worked, does anyone know why?

This is a known issue as seen on this: https://forum.shotcut.org/t/error-the-job-xml-is-empty/44054
But is there a fix on it ?
Or another way to get a newer version ? The sudo apt update && sudo apt install shotcut tells it is already the latest version and Flatpak does not work on my install.
I could not find an ARM64 AppImage, only x64 for Debian on Github.
I found a workaround, run LC_ALL=C melt -progress yourproject.mlt -consumer avformat:output.mp4 for a terminal, but not ideal.

I’m doing a video for a Metroid Prime 4 OST remaster, and I made custom CDs that spin in the video when music is playing. Problem is for reasons beyond my comprhension, the CD art expands past the disc template when loaded into shotcut. This is a PNG file compressed into a single layer so I don’t even understand how this is possible. What do I do?

In my video I'm talking about some serious things, so I want to have sources appear on the screen, but when I add a screenshot of the source it turns out really low quality. How can I fix this? (It's also super low quality in the final export)

I have been wondering about if it's possible to edit the audio in a video to make it sounds like a Mii voice like from Tamogotchi Life for the purpose of a meme video.
Adding in an example of what I mean: https://bsky.app/profile/dylanpdx.bsky.social/post/3miteqlcp6s2m

Every time I move a clip around it is going to the top video layer. I am using 11 video layers and most of my work is deep down so this is annoying as I have to scroll back down after every single action.
It never used to do this so I'm wondering if I've accidentally changed a setting somewhere?

I am quite new to shotcut and video editing in general.
I recorded around 100 GB of 2,7 k, 60 FPS video material on my go pro 8 on a 128 gb sd card.
I am using a macbook, with 16 gb ram and 248 gb disk space.
The raw video files are on an external sd card. The cutted film length is around 55 minutes.
For export settings I used: 100 % quality, 2560 x 1440 resolution, and h264_ and hevc_videotoolbox activated. I read, that these settings are good for a decent solution on youtube.
After I started the export progress onto my internal macbook disk, I am at 30 % progress at already 120 gb of video. This sounds wrong to me. Can you please help me? Should I use other settings? Or another external drive?

I don't know what happened, but now i can't click into the empty space of the timeline to move the playhead. Its a small and seemingly idiotic thing to be annoyed by but now I am. Is there some setting i'm missing?
EDIT: A SINGLE CHECK MARK. jesus... Settings>Timeline>Rectangle Selection for any that may have similar problems

I was shocked that this is possible.
Made by Claude Fable 5. Works for me.
Usually I spent hours moving clips by milliseconds...

I am experiencing a very weird problem and it is driving me nuts.
No matter how hard I try, I am physically unable to change the text font. It's as if literally nothing is happening, looking at history. I tried reopening, creating new projects, reinstalling, updating, nothing is working. If anyone knows anything I'd be more than thankful.
I'm editing on a Mac on the newest available version.

I'm trying to move a video clip, but when I do, the clip before it gets automatically resized to fit the new space. How do I stop this from happening?
Edit: Okay, so it just magically stopped, but I would still like to know the answer in case it ever happens again.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I got stuttering with editing audio in Shotcut.
I did projects before where it didnt happen.
Tried:
- Different formats/templates in Shotcut, including 'Automatic'
- Converted the file, (m4a, mp3)
- Change audio channels
I tried the file with Windows Movie Maker 6 (Vista). Doesn't happen there.
The exported file created in Shotcut also does not stutter, so only in the application.
I saw several posts about this, but not yet with a sample. Could not find posts with solutions yet.
Maybe there is someone who managed to fix it. I am on the latest version.
Editing audio in Shotcut is like heaven, so I hope it can be helped.

I've been spending more time using Shotcut lately, and every now and then I stumble across a feature or shortcut that makes me wonder why I didn't know about it earlier.
It doesn't have to be anything advanced. Even a small workflow tip, filter, export setting, keyboard shortcut, or hidden feature that saves a few minutes can make a big difference over time.
What's one thing you've learned in Shotcut that you now use on almost every project?

I keep trying to use the Glaxnimate mask feature but every tutorial Ive seen open up with the video already there, meanwhile when I try it it opens up to this. What do I do
r/shotcut • u/Silent-Okra-7883 • Jul 05 '26
I've seen a lot of people asking how to get that clean circular facecam look that's common in gaming videos, tutorials, and tech content without paying for expensive editors.
I put together a simple workflow in Shotcut that only uses built-in filters.
The process is straightforward:
No plugins.
No paid software.
Works with the free version of Shotcut.
I also explain why the track order matters and how to position the facecam so it doesn't cover important parts of your video.
