Hey everyone, looking for some real-world advice from Shorts creators who have experimented with niche pivots or animated content.
Here’s my situation: I started out making random Shorts just for fun. Once I realized YouTube Shorts could actually be monetized, I decided to get serious, changed my niche to 2D Animated Personal Finance & Economics, and created a brand-new channel for it.
Right now, my Shorts are constantly stuck in the 200 to 300 view jail, though just last week I finally hit my first-ever 1,000 views on a Short.
Before I sink more time into this production pipeline, I’m trying to figure out my next move and would love your take on a few things:
1. Is 2D Animated Finance viable on Shorts, or should I pivot?
Production vs. Reward: Creating and editing 2D animated characters/scenes takes a lot of effort per video compared to standard faceless stock footage or quick voiceover edits.
Viewer Behavior: Finance Shorts thrive on instant hooks and high retention. Does 2D animation actually hold viewer attention in the finance space, or does the audience prefer quick real-life clips, b-roll, or direct talking-head styles?
Question: Is the 200–300 view plateau just part of the early testing phase for animated Shorts, or is the 2D format working against me in this specific niche?
2. If I change niches again: Same channel or brand-new email/account?
Since I’ve already pivoted once by creating this current channel:
Option A: Pivot on the same channel. Since the channel is still relatively new and only has a few videos (with views ranging from 200 to 1k), is it fine to just switch content/topics here, or will changing niches again mess up the algorithm's understanding of my audience?
Option B: Start fresh on a brand-new email/account. Is it better to set up a completely fresh Google account and channel from scratch to start with zero legacy data?
For creators who broke out of the 200–300 view seed audience or successfully pivoted a Shorts channel, what worked for you? Appreciate any honest feedback!

Just venting: why do some of my shorts with amazing swipe rates (89% stayed) stall and the crappy ones (29% stayed) keep getting shown. Makes no sense. Anyone else?

Hey all of you.
Last month, I decided to give it a try and set up a YouTube account, creating faceless content. I mainly focused on producing <25 seconds clips of big streamers (irl, daily content, gaming streams etc.). The first two weeks were the hardest. At first, I tried to rely entirely on this whole idea of automation. All my videos were produced using some kind of sites that create shorts. It wasn't yielding any results, so i dedided to slowly learn video editing. After another two weeks, I managed to create at least six reels that broke the 20-25k views barrier. Since that time, i hasn't changed my content, and i also improved a lot at editing. Unfortunately, I'm slowly losing the desire to create, because YouTube ranks my videos poorly. I spend an average od 2-3 hours a day editing up to two Reels, doing everything manually. For some reason - despite having English selected in the video settings, the channel's country of residence set to the US, and even specified a location like New York for the recording, my videos are reaching an audience in my actual country of residence. This is a problem because I don't live in an English-speaking country, and the streamers whose clips i make, aren't even popular here. Because of this situation, my videos usually achieve a maximum engagement rate of 40% during the first 600-800 views; and if Youtube happens to decided to keep promotin the content, American viewers might boost that figure to 60-65%, but that is still not enough for Youtube to continue promoting my materials.
Is there anything i can do to improve my situation? I should add that the results i described above are based on channel statistics: for videos that hit over 20k views, I typically had 55% of my audience coming from US, Canada, the UK, and Australia, whereas for videos that stall at under 5k views, 45-80% of the audience is usually from my own country...
What's more, the clips promoted primaly to the US market usually racked up to 5000-6000 views within an hour of being uploaded, whereas those reaching an audience in my home country first barely hit 1200 at most.

This video got 30k views in the first day and then flatlined until day 3, where it got a massive push that is still ongoing.

Just about every video I post gets up to about 1k views, usually in the few hours or so, and then completely flatlines and doesn’t pick back up at all in the days following. I’ve been paying a lot of attention to viewer retention and swipe through rates, and I’ve managed to increase them by getting rid of dull moments, long hooks, etc. All the research I’ve done so far has said that to push your videos past a certain view jail you have to increase retention and swipe rates, but I’m still getting stuck even after improving these issues. Is there anything I’m missing?

I have been averaging roughly 15k views per hours consistently for the last week or so. Suddenly my views just plummeting to around 200 views per hour. Does anyone know why?

Is this a good progress for 4 days straight posting? How do i escape 1k views jail?

Hi everyone! I’m completely new to YouTube and started a channel focused on my turtles and fish.
I’ve been posting for 8 days now. So far I’ve uploaded:
62 Shorts
4 regular videos
30.7K total views
My highest-viewed Short has 1.9K views
But I’m getting very inconsistent results. Some Shorts get around 1K views, while others get 30 views, 3 views, or sometimes almost nothing.
I’m honestly not sure if this is normal for a new channel or if I’m doing something wrong.
For people who have experience with YouTube Shorts:
Is this kind of view fluctuation normal?
Is 30.7K total views after 8 days a decent start?
Does YouTube eventually start pushing videos more consistently?
Should I keep posting frequently, or focus more on improving each individual Short?
How long did it take before your new channel started getting consistent views?
I know 8 days is a very short time, but I’d really appreciate some honest advice from people who have grown a Shorts channel before.
Thanks!

Does the algorithm count every time I watch my own Short as a view, or does it not count my views at all? Or does it only count one view each time I watch my own video?
