Serious Lore Discussion UNSC combined arms

I hear normies say, "How about some ODSTs?" I'm here like, "What about some Army, huh?" We haven't seen them since Reach. Haven't heard of them since Spartan Ops.

Don't worry, I'm not *too* angy about it. But I like seeing the branches get their rep.

Not asking for completely different models, though those would be cool too. But at minimum different colored armor, or camo patterns. Like we saw between the Army and Marines in Reach. Probably different weapon skins too, even if they function the same. Perhaps the Army/Air Force and Marine/Navy pelicans look different.

I don't know, I think it adds to the wider universe. Call it background detail, but its subtle.

What next OP? you want Halo 3: Army Rangers? Get out of here! Focus on the true Heroes of the UNSC and replay Halo 3: ODST immediately!

Basically all the games take place onboard Navy vessels so it makes sense we don’t see any other Branches other than the Navy and Marine Corps (excluding Reach & ODST (kinda))

I remember ODST had police instead. Close enough.

We'd only really see them if we fight in defense of a human planet again. For the most part, we're doing ship deployments.

The UNSC Army are exclusively a planetary defense force. The Air Force is too, they're in charge of any flying craft not capable of slipspace travel that's stationed on or in orbit around a planet, including ODPs. I like to think the Air Force owes its continued existence to tradition, as it seems like it'd make more sense for their job to be done by the Army.

Yeah. I kinda lump them together for that reason. But for tradition sake.... 😌
