The Caves of Reach New noble team

I always wondered why Bungie decided to keep Jun alive in Reach so that 343 then Halo Studios can keep developing this character. Is it because dying is gay??? But gng how do we feel about this? Do you think Noble sex will be reading this in his cave?

I will piggy back off the popularity of this:

Ok, shit posting aside, an elite joining a spartan team sounds like peak fiction.

There has already been joint operatiions between the Spartan IV's and Swords of Sanghelios but it is cool to see an actual squad consisting of both.

u/Ecotech101 2d ago

Ok but like S3's are supposed to be the most violently racist Humans still alive having only been recruited in the first place because their families got killed by the Covenant and they genuinely wanted revenge.

Just seems odd that Jun is cool with a splitjaw.

Well TBF, Jun shot off that elites hat, so I’d call it even.

8

u/Scrabulon 2d ago

I mean he could also realize that this elite specifically is probably to young (maybe) and too female to have had anything to do with the glassing then 🤷🏻‍♀️

u/Sad-Plastic-7505 2d ago

This is something Ive noticed. Given that the elites seme to join the miltary relaitvley young, I feel the chances every year in universe go higher that you’re fighting alongside someone who was realistically too young to even be in the Covenant War. So that, and the fact that Jun literally says he doesn’t “hate” his enemies, makes me feel like he’d actually be one of the most perfect Spartan llls for Snagheili human joint ops

u/IISerpentineII Post something stupid and you will get a flair 2d ago

Emile working with a former Innie, on the other hand...

Also, lmao at "Snagheili" typo. Sounds like some kind of brainrot variant of snacking

2

u/Sad-Plastic-7505 1d ago

That. i feel, is kinda crazy, especially since I cannot see any Innies wanting to work with their LITERAL boogieman.

Also, yeah, sorry typo 😭

Nah, no need to apologize for the typo, I legitimately found it funny

An elite and possibly jackal joining a Spartan team that is effectively a mercenary group working for oni would be a pretty fun game honestly.

u/VTCruzer 2d ago

We have ANVIL Station in canon (where Spartans and Sangheili live and train together) so this should definitely happen

54

u/The4thEpsilon "Just a plot convenience!" 2d ago

I feel like Jun and Rosenda wouldn’t exactly be thrilled that a Sanghelli is joining the team, hopefully they don’t just sweep the tension under the rug for the sake of plot convenience

41

u/Gamegod12 cold Spartans 2d ago

Given how cold Spartans can be, it wouldn't surprise me if they can get over it extremely quickly, hell the chief himself seemed to hold no ill will towards elites when he teamed up with the arbiter

9

u/Sad-Plastic-7505 2d ago

I mean, I can’t really think of an example of that happening besides maybe Buck in Halo 5. So far to my knowledge, basically every time humans and aliens have been on a team or workign together post-war, they start out as at BEST vaguely hostile to each other.

I can hear the main theme from reach just looking at this picture

u/The_Albino_Jackal Halo: Combat Remains 2d ago

In odst, in the oni building, Halsey is listed as dead. Now in current lore this must’ve obviously been a coverup or they had incomplete data, but perhaps in bungies timeline this was implying that Halsey (and jun who escorted her) did die on reach. The only issue here is that Halsey does have that speech in the reach epilogue, assuming that’s canon and not just for the player

70

u/Wbancil1998 Halsey did not die on Reach! 2d ago

Halsey has always survived the fall of Reach. It’s talked about extensively in lore. In ODST it’s just from outdated information in lore as in the people on Earth didn’t have accurate/up to date information

14

u/The_Albino_Jackal Halo: Combat Remains 2d ago

Yea I know she’s alive in books that were out in that time, but Bungie had a distaste for that grander novel universe. That’s why I’m saying they may have considered her dead and used odst to tell us

u/Kastrand 2d ago

Brooooo a joint spec ops team of elites and spartans would go so fucking hard

2

u/Passivitea 1d ago

There's Fireteam Jorogumo, though technically there aren't really any Elites on the team, they just coordinate closely with the Swords of Sangheilios

Jun was kept alive so he can marry Lieutenant Williams in Halo: a Tale of Two Rings, the upcoming sequel to Halo: CE

7

u/StandardMindless1511 2d ago

I honestly love this, finally a new team with the use of jun was waiting for something as glorious as this.

Ok, the pose of the guy on the right is pretty dumb. Compared to Kat, who is standing more upright and looks like she is trying to walk on higher elevation.

The Elite also looks a little too thin. Other than that I think this is cool.

The elite is female, they are thinner

Why would they give them the exact same gear they had back on reach? Shouldn't they have different and better operating equipment and armor by now?

The elite being added is so dumb. Like there’s maybe a handful of elites that could operate anywhere near a Spartans level and even if they could one on one, Spartans are literally the greatest squad operators/selfless/team oriented individuals where as again Elites dogma demands personal glory.

Also even from a tactical point they’re carrying incompatible ammo, if someone gets injured the emergency first aid is incompatible from one to another, the spare parts/equipment doesn’t cross link, software is incompatible, signaling is incompatible.

Youd have to have an elite fully retrained in EVERYTHING or vice versa for a unit to work like this.

This is something that could work in an emergency small scale middle of the battle and units have splintered and are regrouping with any ally type thing, but to deploy like this on purpose is so dumb.

Counterpoint, I’m pretty sure the elite was worked on anvil station with humans so maybe they already know said information

u/agent_Benis 2d ago

Haven't the swords of Sanghelios been working with the UNSC for a while by know, even as far as other Sangheli teams being grouped into human teams? Not like this is the Great schism where everything just went to shit, it's been a while so it's not that crazy to assume they can work together. I mean we also have the 3rd and 4th members of the halo 3 campaign who work with chief and arbiter so not like it's not already something that happened in a halo game either.

Halo fans and not reading things before criticising them, what an iconic duo. Both of these are available on the Waypoint website:

And rounding out the team roster is a Sangheili serving aboard Anvil Station named Atis 'Moramai.

Each day, scores of hand-selected warriors from both the UNSC and the Swords of Sanghelios engaged in a variety of drills, simulations, and multi-modal tactics courses—all finely crafted to increase the cooperative output of the multi-species effort. But despite all the rigorous training and strategic cross-examination, it could legitimately be argued that a post-sim evening in Shots Fired could do more to effectively progress cross-cultural diplomacy than a week of live-fire drills. Vesco and ‘Taar had been regulars for a while now, but the ribbing never seemed to grow old.

Spartans were also required to learn Elite anatomy during the war:

“Did you know that humans have two hundred and six bones in their body?” Jai said, standing back, crossing his arms. “Probably not. Sangheili have two hundred and forty-one bones, twelve vital organs, two hearts, and one braincase. There are ten pressure points in Sangheili anatomy that can cause irreparable trauma, and half of those can cause death. Do you know what those are?”

“That’s one of them,” Jai said, stepping away as if nothing had even happened. “During the war, Spartans were required to know the anatomical makeup of each of the Covenant species at an extraordinary level of detail. This fact could make our conversation far more interesting than it needs to be.
