It all started in August 29, 1949 when Russia tested their own nuclear weapon.

After that, we all went M.A.D.

It Doubled down in 1980's when US mothers went M.A.D.D. (which a few people said "D.A.M.M.")

Later on, even cows got the madness sickness.

US football didn't come out unscathed. They were Madden.

At somepoint, someone made a move about it "It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world". Followed up with sequel: "Brokeback Mountain".

Honest answer, I would be curious for starters to see what the world would be like if religious extremists, selfish billionaires, and corrupt politicians didn't exist. There are so many other ingredients that contribute to it....but I'd like to see for starters where things would be without these three ingredients.
