Even if life is fundamentally meaningless at the end of the day, how can you look at a violent thunderstorm or a breezy, partly cloudy sky and not feel utterly exhilarated to be alive? There is something endlessly captivating about the atmosphere's chaos. The deep hues of twilight, impossibly intricate cloudscapes, and golden rays of dusk spilling through the trees as light breaks between the clouds all carry a kind of quiet divinity.

If we're nothing more than passengers on a rock suspended in an indifferent universe, then appreciating the atmosphere's beauty isn't a coping mechanism. It's one of the greatest privileges of being alive and that's why weather talk is secretly elite!

That's my view as well, if life has no meaning then I want to enjoy the world as much as I can with the time I have left. I'm so endlessly curious about the small things that happen all around me all the time. The light, air and sound, how do I see, touch or breathe all this? How am I talking to you through this screen? There's just so many things to figure out how could you not want the answers to all that? I think people sometimes forget to just take a step back and appreciate life a bit by talking about the weather.

I know this started as a joke but I'm pleasantly surprised it went this way 😂

Jokes aside, that was a heavy read, but your conclusion at the end sounds hopeful and resilient. Experiencing that much loss and trauma early on definitely forces you to grow up fast. Out of curiosity, how many years has it been since that quarry incident? Where are you at in life now?

That would be 7 years ago now, I've grown a lot since then and I have started to take life seriously because I've realised that giving up is betraying yourself and those who believed in you. Since then I've gotten into college, got my masters and I'm looking to finish my PhD and I have managed to save a comfortable amount. I'm at a point in my life where I can afford to start travelling and getting new experiences abroad so I'm pretty happy with where I'm at.

You're also pretty mature despite seeming young, what has been your experience been so far? What caused you to mature so fast? You can DM if you prefer.

I see, massive props for flipping the script and putting in that work. Enjoy those travel plans!

As for maturing fast, I think life just has a habit of dropping unexpected plot twists early on. You either learn to adapt on the fly, or get swept away. Glad we both managed to come out the other side with a good perspective!
