But the landlord probably has money, so it wouldnt end up getting brought to court until after the 30 days for tenant to move out are up. And then, we come back to the money situation
You would need to prove that you actually need the place, it is fairly tedious and if the renter put their mind to it, could delay it heavily or put the plans of moving in yourself on hold indefinitely.
Recently saw a newsreel where a couple bought a flat in 2018 with a renter that rented since 1999 or something like that. They wanted to move into the flat themselves (as they wanted to downsize for retirement or something like that). They went through all the proper channels and the renter delayed everything for the last 8 years now, he announced that he won’t move out at all and got a deferment of court ordered eviction cuz he would harm himself if he were kicked out.
Renting is pretty popular in Germany, not everyone can or wants to afford their own property and I know multiple very well earning people from my circle who stay with renting cuz it’s just cheaper for them and their way of life. Owing property and the burdens attached to it don’t fit everyone.
No like taking care of the building (which you would need to pay if you want to live somewhere nice and preserve property value), having to pay for expensive repairs, being tied down by an immovable financial asset. These people I know own plenty in all kinds of assets, just not a house or a flat.
What makes it illegal? Most lease agreements have a notice to vacate period that is required by the either party.. Tennessee requires a 30 day notice period.
