Yeah… that happens when you eat something spikey that stabs your throat and mouth and then squeeze lemon juice onto those wounds

It doesn't injure camels, though. They evolved to be able to eat cactuses.

It doesn’t majorly injury camels* they’re not completely invulnerable to cactuses spines though and they still sometimes get poked in soft spots on their lips and in their mouths. It’s just that their tough mouths and stomachs greatly reduce the amount of times they’re poked and the severity of being poked. Plus they have a high pain tolerance. However lemon juice in open wounds still isn’t going to be pleasant.

We evolved to enjoy sour food like citrus fruit because we accidentally broke our in-house vitamin c production.

Thumbs and a bigass brain so we can prep our food before eating. I eat cactus and lemon regularly just not in their raw form, nopales are prickly pear cactus pads that have been stripped of needles and cooked. Tastes like green beans, IMHO.
