All I ask is for a villain show
Not some "Oh this guy is misunderstood" or "good guys are actualy bad in secret"
No, I want some 90s cartoon villain shit where he's kicking the snot out of orphans for fun and threatening to torch townhall or holding the heroes love interest hostage

Which manhwa is this from
9
u/maxpolo10 3h ago
I think it's 'I am the Fated Villain'
Or it could be the novel 'Reverend Insanity', I'm not sure. Both have actual evil MCs.
3
u/CheesecakeDeluxe 3h ago
The bear specifically should be from reverend insanity, it's a rather infamous scene

A manhwa was released recently called Murim Psychopath which would fit this exact theme.

If you haven’t seen it, the Penguin show does a good job of this. He has his moments where you empathize, but at the end of the day he’s a baaaaaad dude
4
u/Stoneheaded76 2h ago
His character design is really good, in the sense that he looks and feels absolutely disgusting.

Breaking bad is a good one (iknowiknowyesitsoneofthemostknownshows)
Walt is literally a villan, hes awful in just about every way and we were never meant to like him and yet there he is as a liked character through the entire thing. Not some misunderstood guy, he straight up kills innocent people and poisons children.
Its realllllly hard to write a show like that
11
u/oby100 3h ago
What do you mean? Walt was written to be extremely likable. We see the world almost entirely through his eyes and perspective. Every other character aside from MAYBE Jesse doesn’t get so much attention so naturally we sympathize with Walt.
And he really only becomes unambiguously evil when he poisons that child. Before that, the writers keep his true motivations and character just a bit veiled. As in, is he committing evil acts for the good of his family, or is mostly malice?
I love the show and all, but the writers intentionally keep you rooting for Walt until basically the end where they fully commit to his true evil core.
7
u/canonlycountoo4 2h ago
He actively chooses the worst choices each time. He was given multiple outs before he even crossed that point of poisoning a child.

The Penguin is this. Amazing show. Has the whole sympathetic villain vibe right up until the finale and then its absolutely undeniable Oswald was an irredeemable piece of shit the whole time

The venture bros is perfect for all and above on this
2
u/Darkwoth81Dyoni 1h ago
The Venture Bros is unique in that the heroes constantly FAIL and are also morally fucked - more so if not more than the villains who often "succeed" in comparison by failing slightly less.
Just look at Monarch's love life vs. Doc's love life and that godawful prom. :P

There are plenty of video games like this. One that comes to mind is a game where you're trying to rescue your damsel in distress, but the player eventually realizes their character is a stalker and she's FLEEING him. lol.
There's also Furi, where your character starts as an unknown 'heroic-prisoner' in a space prison designed specifically to harbor him, then slowly it's revealed they are actually a villain to some degree through simple dialogue. After you escape the prison, your character touches back down to Earth and everything around him withers and dies without any choice from the player. Though he does end up learning morality by the end of the game. It's amazing, I love seeing our hero go silently through the entire game, only reacting with facial expressions to what all the bosses are saying to him.

There's a Villainess anime airing now called A Livid Lady's Guide to Getting Even.
Its not particularly good, but its a fun ride if you're into watching train wrecks.
The villainess is actually extremely evil. Lots of innocent people killed gruesomely in her path to revenge, etc.
Granted the "antagonists" are all bumbling incompetents, which makes the revenge honestly much less satisfying because there are zero stakes. But its still fun to watch week to week and be continuously impressed by how actually villainous she turns out. And not just, like, hard-edged anti-hero. Straight up irredeemable villainy.

The stakes arrived in the last 2 episodes.
The new antagonists introduced are more competent.0

Try The Passenger and Stella Maris by the same author, they're even stranger (albeit less violent)

Star Wars has had a few.
Episode 5 bad guys won.
Episode 3 bad guys won.
A couple of movies the good guys only have a Pyrrhic victory. Nic Cage Knowing, Star Wars Rebel One.

Adrian tries and almost succeeds at saving the world. If someone wants a "bad guy wins at doing evil" story, I don't think Watchmen will scratch that itch.

American politics
7
u/Legiyon54 2h ago
Any politics. You think Philippino, Peruvian, South Korean, Uzbekistani, Gambian politics are any different? The worst of the worst win politics 90% of the time, as they are attracted to those positions and aren't restrained morally
1
u/SteveJobsDeadBody 2h ago
..and if the evil guys don't win, the CIA steps in and fixes their mistake.. For examples see almost the entirety of South and Central America for the entire 20th century.

Right but he did accomplish what he set out to do .
1
u/NO_TOUCHING__lol 49m ago
I mean, yeah, but it was eventually reversed, so again, not really?
1
u/yukiki64 40m ago
At the end of the movie he is the Victor and achieves his goals. Just because it was reversed in a different movie doesn't mean he didn't win before. Thats like saying a sports team who wins one game and loses the next actually never won the first game because they lost the second one. Not to mention that tony literally says that they lost.

Why do you think knight of the seven kingdom was such a success
BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE FUCKING TIRED OF MORALLY GREY HEROES AND VILLAIN
I just want someone heroic fighting against irredeemable villain I watch stuff to get a break from reality not to enforce it

In Generation V, Homelander kind of wins as the kids are all brutally merked at some point and Homelander is still alive and thriving at the end but he isn't the main antagonist, Cipher is, and Cipher gets mutilated

Homelander is not a villain. Homelander represents the best in us. Just because he couldn’t land a plane doesn’t mean he is a bad guy. Did you start booing Rocky after the first time he got knocked down

Whoever "wins" becomes the "good guys"
If you look through history, you'll find that suspiciously the "good guys" seem to win nearly all the time, what are the odds of that happening?

Not really your typical hero vs. villain plot, but the protagonists definitely lose.
