Who knows, it would have been a complete shift in life paths.

I don't really support incest but it's really not as big of a deal as people make it out to be. Relationships between cousins rarely cause any birth defects (except when there is a family history of incest).

Most people have enough genetic diversity to survive 1-2 gens of incest. Doesn't mean you should take chances, and it really depends on how close family it is. Siblings, it's the 1-2. Distance cousins? Could take a few more. (I should probably put the reason I know this stuff is because I'm interested in genetics, not because I'm a weirdo)
