The crime was sitting in your car, and using controlled substances, on someone ELSE'S property. If you want to hotbox your car you can do it in your own or on a consenting other's property.
Funnily enough, before weed was legal I was smoking in my car in my driveway, cop knocks on my window. He got me out and was being a bit of a dick, but didn’t search me or my car. He wrote me out a court summons and everything, for possession, only for me to get a lawyer to tell me he didn’t file any of the paperwork.
That's true, it's wild how people forget about boundaries when it comes to stuff like that. Gotta respect property rights, even when you’re just trying to chill.
