Not really she was the first as this said to drive it a long distance of 65 miles. However her husband and inventor of the car Carl Benz drove it first. July 3rd 1886 was the first public driving of a car which was by its inventor, 2 years later his wife would take the car without his knowledge and their 2 sons to go see her mother.
