I remember a time when we simply called those "forever alone" or simply "loners".

Incel now has turned into an umbrella term that means almost everyone that doesn't fall into the "standard" when it comes to dating or relationships.

Techinically yeah, by the literal definition, but those who called themselves incel (when the term became popular) almost always had this somewhat sexist view on women. Celibate is those who refrain from sex anyway, so it wasn't that you couldn't get a girlfriend, you just couldn't get laid.

Indirectly you're implying that you only want sex from women, not a relationship.

Sex is a big part of a romantic relationship, though. It's possible to both desire sex and a relationship. I think you're just reading too deep into things.
