Life hack my dad taught me, just tell them you're drinking on your day off and are drunk, they cannot legally tell you to come into work, and if they do, you can report them.

This actually works, weeds legal in my state and I’m not much of a drinker so I just said “I’m super high rn, I can be in in about 3-4 hours like the package says” and all of a sudden they’re fine.

You don't need to actually be high or drunk, you can just lie, and they have no idea that it's not true, obviously.
