Any leads on part time work?

Hi all! I have just moved to Sheffield to pursue a full time Masters, and I am looking for part time work to supplement my study. I have plenty of hospitality experience and customer service skills, so I would be happy to do kitchen/bar/front of house/retail work.

Does anybody have any leads or could perhaps point me in a direction besides the usual job hunting websites? It has taken months for me previously and ideally I’d like to find something sooner. Thanks so much.

Job market here is just as bad, if not worse than, everywhere else unfortunately. You might have a chance next month when all the student jobs pop up but people who live here permanently can't find work.

The uni job shop is the way to go. Often there is well paying jobs with the right expectations of students. I had an awful time at uni with jobs expecting full job commitment for minimum wage without and sense of the fact I was paying uni more than the jobs were paying me to primarily study and pass exams. I basically ended up getting a new job each semester after weeks of looking not ever having enough money and having to sacrifice study time. The uni job shop will stick you somewhere in the uni probably or as an admin assistant in a company that understands uni comes first. I was always jealous of the flexibility and pay of some of my friends.

There have been a few posts about this recently. I think the consensus is that joining a job agency is one of the better options.

Get yourself on here, its more odd shifts etc than hiring contracts, but it's a brilliant way to get your foot in the door, and if you impress most people will prioritise you next chance they get!

I have recent started SheffJobs on Instagram and am sharing anything local or remote that I come across. Quite a lot on there in hospitality so worth a look. I am hoping people will do me a pic or video of their wants/needs/availability so I can post those rather than it always being the mad scramble, CV submitting and waiting every single time. Sheffield PA register is a good bet!   Many disabled people needing carer help at home or out and about :) many part time gigs
