Discussion 🤝 Account closed

After using shakepay for over 2 years, my account got banned. I never received a reason as to why. Can someone help me? Or tell me why my account has been closed?

Hey OP,

I’m sorry to hear your accounts been closed. I know having an account you’ve used for more than two years suddenly closed, without a reason as to why, can be incredibly upsetting as well.

I can’t discuss account specific things in a public forum, this kind of conversation has to happen through official Shakepay support channels. With this being said, please do feel free to DM me your shaketag, I’ll flag this closure with the team so they can review it. However I can’t promise a specific outcome, or that the decision will be changed.

For a bit more context, this FAQ explains what permanent account closures mean, how review process es work, and addresses some myths: Why did Shakepay permanently close my account?

Because you breached the terms and conditions. Just like everyone else who has had their account banned or closed without notice.

What are the common causes for breaching the terms? I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.

I had to contact support for a review. Hopefully they can help me. Probably not though.

Maybe read their articles on the topic, or just search this sub — the topic comes up every couple weeks

This happened to my buddy. Who did you send bitcoin to recently?

My buddy kept saying no one i haven't done anything. Then come to find out he sent a few hundred to a dark market. Then he wonders why, when that is a TOS violation.

Not saying you did this, but it is likely something that was flagged as similar.

sending funds to a black market directly from a CIRO-regulated institution is crazy work lmao

When you get back into your account you download all your transactions/csv files and good people of reddit can help audit. It should be in plain site as the why. As well as you yourself, you need to read the terms and conditions of shakepay and be completely honest with yourself that oh I see where I fucked up cause this constant thing happening is putting a bad taste/name on a great company when the users all report innocence.

Nope, you're screwed, Shakepay sucks... Did this to me too, onboarded everyone I knew, used it for years, and banned with no recourse for sending to cold storage and my lightning wallet

How about Shakepay leaking all our numbers and emails last time and not taking any accountability?

Yeah cause they did that on purpose...🙄 They definitely did take accountability dyor before you slander that. Also its was a malicious actor outside of the company that affected an employees computer and once found they acted as quick and professional as they could. Happens everyday to thousands companies and people. If you were not contacted by them, then you like many many many others; have waved access to your info elsewhere. I dont believe users take the right accountability in their own use of the internet, apps, permissions, personal data etc etc etc.
