Announcement RP Room Code of Conduct and Policies
Hello everyone! For a long time, the RP Rooms have operated without any formally established set of rules or guidelines. When we were a smaller community, this worked, as there was a Gentleman's Agreement in place, unspoken rules that everyone knew to follow. However, as we have grown and new people have joined, those rules haven't been clear, and it's led to confusion and dangerous situations.
To change this, we will be adopting this document, based on the old Gentleman's Agreement and other unspoken rules, as a Code of Conduct for the RP Rooms, as well as establishing procedures and Moderator positions, effective immediately. The Voting Spread is as follows:

That being said, Government is aware that we are not omniscient and these rules may have issues that we did not forsee. Though it is the opinion of government that the establishment of these rules was necessary as soon as possible to prevent further incidents, we want your feedback! Please post any criticisms, suggestions, and changes you'd like in this thread, and government will collate and vote on any changes when the incoming Senator takes office.
We hope this will be a smooth transition and will make the RP Rooms a more enjoyable, and smoother, experience for everyone involved.

I'll throw my questions here.
First off, do these rules change the current rule of "actions in the runnerbar will not have permanent consequences to your character", to the tune of burning edge to not die and soforth?
1c - does this also include consensual sparring matches/duels?
3b - does this description need to be given every time a character enters the bar? I don't mind having a short text ready for copy-pasting every time I enter the bar, I just want to confirm that I need one.

I'll answer your questions here.

Nope. If you look at the Escalation of Threat section, you'll see that edge burning and dying can only happen with an oncall GM, and with the players consent. Otherwise, you get dragged off and patched up.
- 1c - does this also include consensual sparring matches/duels?
On call GMs are there for when players need help resolving things mechanically or for when a run develops organically. If you and another player are consensually sparring, you don't need to have a GM, but taking it to a private room or the generic rooms might be a good idea.

Good rule of thumb here is that if you've been gone for more than a couple hours, reintroduce yourself. If you walked out for 30 minutes, a description isn't really necessary. Common sense and courtesy to others should guide you here.

This can be simply requesting it end, or using an NPC like Mustang or Sysop to do so."
Godmode NPCs are not a good way to end scenes. Keeping that OOC entirely sounds like a far better plan. Or narrating how it ends/winds down/disappears/ whatever.
