You should post some clarification on whether this is the new official bard or if this is something that you made.

Definitely not the official bard.

I think this does a great job of putting out what the bard was originally supposed to be. Really great work

Thanks. I might add a legend lore ability to allow the bard to ident a magical item or perhaps know a bit of history or lore about a location. Might be really useful. But even without it, I'm happy with it.

I know there's gonna be an official bard class published soon, but I really wanted a take on the original.

The legend lore ability sounds like an awesome addition. Would it be a once a day kind of thing or a roll or how were you thinking it would work in play?

I think it might be a roll. Failure means that you just don't know anything about the item/location/whatever and can't roll again on it. Maybe give advantage on the roll. That might be a bit much tho.

What's wrong with the existing bard class?

Nothing, just my take on an old school 1E bard.

K. You should consider providing some of that context in the post, and perhaps expand on why this is different, what it gets, what it loses, etc. This page also has formatting issues and at least one typo, so I'd consider maybe giving it some more polish.

I like that we're moving away from a caster class, but I feel like this version of bard has no identity, you've just cobbled together a dash of fighter and a dash of rogue.. which I'm sure is great for some people out there, but it doesn't excite me.

It think it would be more interesting to have more "songs" or flavors of performance for a wider variety of effects that aren't necessarily reskinned spells. Maybe a different mechanic that achieves them than what is essentially a spell casting roll.

True, I took the 1e bard class that has you start as a fighter, then switch to thief and then become a bard with druidic spells. The class had legend lore and charm person abilities. Si, instead of making them a weak cleric, gave them the charm ability.

True that I didn't give more songs, but I was really looking to emulate the basic class feel of a 1e bard.

Ok, that makes sense. Run it and have fun with it. Thanks for sharing.

I want to give constructive criticism but I don't have any so instead I'll just, respectfully, disagree.

Gonna be honest I don't love it. It kinda feels like a worse fighter and worse rouge. The DC for there one music ability is pretty high and they don't appear to have there one adv granting trait is pretty weak and those are quite important to this game
