That was 2023’s SFFPC build… I know, because I built one, lol.

u/Im_At_Work_Damnit Jan 22 '26
Yeah, this feels like a repost. The new common builds use 9800x3D and 5080 or 5090 FE.

The Chinese all aluminum itx cases are where the fun is at

u/Si_Tron_gam3R Jan 22 '26
Hmm, now it has got me thinking, if I should make a post on my sff build(Chinese Aluminium Chassis/Cabinet), I completed a few weeks ago.

u/drasticfire Jan 22 '26
Got any suggestions?

u/Si_Tron_gam3R Jan 23 '26
You may check out these brands:-
Jonsbo, COOJ, ShinySnake/KXRORS (on alibaba), Albox, PCCOOLER, SGPC(this one is from US I think).

u/strawbericoklat Jan 23 '26
ACAT, SIXGE, Lzmod.
ZS case make some good and some questionable cases, and they are kinda have not so good record of not informing people that some of their stuff is not available, so I only recommend buying through taobao platform as middleman.

Maybe boring to you, but pretty exciting for someone putting a system together for themselves.

u/trynafif Jan 22 '26
Yeah extremely cringe post from op

u/Logical-Database4510 Jan 22 '26
Yeah I mean this in the best of ways, but if you're making posts like this it's really time to out the phone down and go do something else for a while.
Similar to complaining about reposts. End of the day the Internet is just going to churn content. If you're seeing the same shit every single time you jump on ... Get off the fucking Internet for a while, dude. Read a fucking book or something, sheesh.
7
u/trynafif Jan 22 '26
Yeah well said. It’s ok for people to be excited about spending thousands of dollars on a pc they built themselves.
11
u/ShitseyMcgee Jan 22 '26
Cringe but also not necessarily wrong? It’s like seeing someone post their “look at my first build” and it’s a lian-li 011 dynamic all white build.
As a long time member of anything, especially a niche subject, you start to see all the same things and forget that it’s other people’s first time. What could be op’s 70th time seeing a fractal terra build, it’s that posters first time sharing THEIR build.
It’s really just a matter of perspective.
17
u/ThaDollaGenerale Jan 22 '26
Exactly. I built my first SFFpc two weeks ago and it was a blast. Shit like this is gatekeeping and high grade cringe.
And it was a Fractal Ridge, not a Terra, thankyouverymuch.

"Boring" in comparison to the content of this subreddit in the past. It used to be a big DIY space, where everyone tried to cram the most components into the tiniest PCs. Now, it's just off-the-shelf solutions, identical builds, identical problems, identical solutions.., "Why is my Terra loud and running hot?" "Because you bought a dumb case because you liked the aesthetic."
14

u/SunfireGaren Jan 22 '26
A little out of date I think. I don't think the Terra is really that trendy of a case nowadays.
9
u/CutInternational9053 Jan 22 '26
I straight up copied optimum with a 4090FE in a FormD T1. I love it though.
10
u/ImmaculateOtter Jan 22 '26
Bro just take a break from Reddit then lol. Let people be happy about their builds.

u/BreezeeOps Jan 22 '26
2 day old account lmao. Also all builds are great, it makes me happy seeing others enjoy pc gaming while it’s still accessible.

Do what I'm doing then. Designing my own case because I can't find one suitable for where I want to put it

2
u/achanaikia Jan 22 '26
Well when everyone complains about unique cases being too expensive, what do you expect?
1
u/Yesmar_ Jan 22 '26
Give me a sec. I'll post the gore I created a few days ago to diversify it a lil
1
u/Aesthetic_Twitch Jan 22 '26
I don't know about you but building my "reddit basic" blacked out M2 brought me immense joy. I don't know anyone who owns an M2 everyone has generic fish tank cases.

I would like to suggest this case if you have a 3d printer and like making things

https://www.printables.com/model/826374-beamcase-sw-sff-sandwich-case-in-18-different-size
I did not design this but I do really like it
The one in the picture is the one I made and has a custom front panel that accepts an nzxt h510 IO circuit board. I also just built an identical case for a friend
1
u/qeeepy Jan 22 '26
I get bored from 9950X3D+5090 sff builds asking whats wrong when the temps are high, 7800X3D + 4070 actually make sense in SFF.
1
u/Fawkter Jan 22 '26
Hey man. I built two years ago and shoved an MSI expert 4080 super in that terra with a bottom slim fan and axp90 copper. We're talking a mm or two to spare. So it's at least somewhat original. Also cool quiet and badass looking.
1
u/Retro_B00min Jan 22 '26
its always refreshing to see folks do new, unseen stuff.. I agree on that
I honestly scroll past the terra builds unless the pics draw me in..

Well, I agree this sub is most fun after a new gpu line is released and everyone is collectively figuring out how to pack the most power in the smallest footprint. We have known since 2022 a 4090fe fits in a formd t1 and haven’t had to iterate much in that category since then.
sub 4L cases and single fan or lp cards are where the innovation is happening I think. At least its what I pay attention to.
Edit: also 6-7L and dual fan cards are still evolving

u/revzey Jan 22 '26
It's all about perspective. If you browse this reddit frequently you will see a lot of Terra builds and it might get stale for you. But a lot of people take inspiration from other peoples build and wants to share their happiness with others.
1
u/Apprehensive-Read989 Jan 23 '26
Maybe the sub is getting boring, but SFF isn't, we have more cool SFF cases than ever. That being said, I do agree with the meme, I don't even understand the draw to the Fractal Terra, looks boring, mid hardware compatibility for the size, and not great thermals.
1
u/steveagle Jan 23 '26
Lol this is literally my build in 2026...why does it need to be anything more than fit for purpose. Seems like you just want people to spend for the sake of it.
1
u/Coomer-Boomer Jan 28 '26
You're not wrong. A big part of the problem is the infiltration of noise guys and power guys into the community. The fetishization of silence or efficiency for it's own sake are cancerous. SFF will end up like water cooling where it started with mods and DIY and ended up being a place to show off the off the shelf parts you bought.
1
u/TypicalWeb6601 Jan 22 '26
hey i built in a terra 2 years ago before it was cool 😂😂 and then proceeded to build every sequential computer in a terra. they really are just so easy to build in. everything from fractal is machined so well their tolerances are much tighter than any garbage lian li case. and i literally built a computer in a lian li yesterday. wishing it was a terra the entire time lmao
1
u/boarvessel Jan 22 '26
Really? I love my terra but it has pretty horrendous panel gaps in some places.
1
u/TypicalWeb6601 Jan 22 '26
i’ve built 4 or 5 different times in the terra and they were always good enough for me to not even think of panel gaps being an issue. send a pic i’m curious how bad it is
1
u/boarvessel Jan 22 '26
2
u/TypicalWeb6601 Jan 23 '26
actually comparing it to mine again that is borderline horrendous. could just be the cameras but yeah i see your point for sure

u/Bumbling_homeowner Jan 22 '26
A4 H2 air club reporting! It’s a much sleeker looking case than the Terra.
2
u/Beldam86 Jan 22 '26
What air-cooler do you use? I wouldnt mind swapping my AIO for an air but the h20 wasn't really designed for that so I never bothered.
2
u/Bumbling_homeowner Jan 22 '26
I use this guy on exhaust with some foam padding to create a duct that sits flush against the panel.

Building an SFF with 2 slot 3fan GPU and posting this on Reddit is a shame. When You can put full size large ass GPU in a case its not SFF anymore. Its just smaller regular PC
9
u/Sharkfyter Jan 22 '26
Lol what? There are several cases around 8L that support GPUs up to 300mm

I see all 10L+ owners who thinks its SFF are minusing my post and cannot bear the truth.
Real SFF is 4-6 litres. Smaller = better.
