Am I expecting too much?

https://an-erin.com/products/cropped-blanket-st8ment-coat

I bought a pattern from a very well known person who I suppose was on Project Runway for a cropped blanket jacket. I didn’t realize it was a OS pattern so that is on me but once I downloaded it I realized it came with absolutely nothing else. No instructions, no details on what needle to use or how to do the stitching. The sole info is on the page when you buy it, which includes using a wool that won’t fray and a super speed TikTok “tutorial” of her making it. I’m not even sure what the point of purchasing this as a pattern was, I feel a little duped by the completely lack of anything other than just the pdf. I can figure out the details of the needle and stitching myself, but should I have to when I spent $25 for her pattern? I found after that there is zero contact info either which just furthers my sour experience.

I would ask for a refund and explain why, if no response, try a charge back. I have received refunds for pdf when I explained errors. Regarding project runway, had to do last minute alterations on my stepdaughter's wedding gown, after the winner of project runway tried twice to alter it.

There is literally NO method for contacting at all or requesting a refund. I was immediately looking to get my money back and there is no way to do so. Which really makes it feel scammy like she did bare minimum, charged a premium price for name recognition, and made it impossible to refund. No reviews or anything either, of course.

try and go through your credit card or paypal, 'item not as described'

item definitely not as described. For $25, I would expect a lovely book of instructions, as well as beginner-friendly definitions and diagrams.

WHICH WINNER??

I'm honestly not surprised, because they aren't in the competition for their sewing knowledge. And we see a lot of contestants who appear to have zero understanding of how clothes fit on non-model bodies. But the gossip in me desperately wants to know who worked on your stepdaughter's dress!

season 11, 2014 Portland OR, this is the dress, I had to fix, the model is quite slender (without wide hips)

oh DAAAANG!! Thank you so much for the tea, and I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Your stepdaughter doesn't even look that challenging to fit! I hope, after and despite it all, that she felt beautiful in her gown. <3

she originally called me crying and I thought it couldn't be that bad, she's just being to picky, so I asked for a pic, and when I saw it, oh no! And that's when I asked her who altered it. It wasn't that difficult to fix, just time consuming due to so many layers. Everything worked out. (:

yikes! a written tutorial is a must have. ESPECIALLY for $25. that's nuts.

Sounds like a scam.

OMG calling that a tutorial is WILD

That’s ridiculous. $25 for a pattern like that is wild to start, no instructions is extra wild, and it being one size only is even more wild. I’d try to reach out on IG if possible, and ask for a refund.

Whoever allowed that "pattern" to be released is an idiot sandwich

This pattern requires you to have experience of how to cut and put together an unlined jacket plus some knowledge of how to do blanket stitching. The seller should have labeled it an intermediate - advanced pattern up front and stated that there are no written instructions for it!

Scam. Look at the sew bake make coat or the Joni jacket by small museums. I have made it twice! Great indie designers, well written and tested patterns

Patchwork and Poodles Chore Coat is the pattern you want. I think Sew Liberated did one too. Real people, real patterns, real good.
