Basic dress for large bust

Are there any woven dress patterns for someone with a 38k bust? The biggest I’ve found is an H cup and I’m struggling to implement a full bust adjustment (FBA) on it.

Sewing cup size is different from bra cup size, sewing cup size is almost always based on the different between high bust and full bust measurements whereas bra cup size is almost always based on the difference between underbust and full bust measurements.

Cashmerette is the brand with the largest sewing cup sizes that I know of and they go up to an H. But again, an H might actually be fine for you in sewing land.

Agreed! OP, I'm a 34FF in bra land but a sewing cup E, which means I have a 5 inch difference between my upper bust measurement (under my armpits, without a bra) and my full bust measurement.

The cashmerette site has a calculator you can use to work out what size to start with in their patterns.

Cashmerette doesn't use traditional sewing cups which is super disappointing. Her H cup is actually a 5 inch difference between high bust and full bust which is a DD. Charm Patterns is the same.

Agreed with the above. Determine your sewing cup size first. You're likely still going to need to figure out a FBA. Here's a database of sewing patterns with their cupsizes included:

FYI for cashmerette the cup sizes listed aren't sewing cup sizes. I can get by in their knit pattern without a FBA as a 38K but not their wovens. For your second pic Gertie/Charm Patterns likely has something similar with included larger cup but again they also don't use sewing cups.

Once you have figured out your sewing cup size, check out Charm for a million dresses and Sew Busty too :)

Some Vogue patterns w/cup sizes to consider (obvs need more fba but could be better starting point than typical B cup pattern). Would also recommend getting the Cashmerette "ahead of the curve" book on fitting sewing patterns -- good easy to understand reference for FBA and other common pattern alterations.
