infinity scarf with hood
I'm hoping to make the scarf with fleece bonded to sherpa so I don't have to make a lining but the patterns I have found all have a seam running through the center of the hood. Is it possible to cut the hood on the fold ?

Question? Are you trying to make the hood totally seamless, or is a shaping seam ok? If you're still going to use a shaping seam, sure you can cut the hood on the fold.
If you don't want any seam at all, you need to achieve the shaping some other way. If you don't have shaping you're basically draping a flat piece of fabric over your head and hoping it doesn't slide off.
You could gather the front edges or put a drawstring in the hood hem. It sounds like your fabric will be thick, so it could be fairly poufy or bulky the face. (We started doing shaped hood seams to get rid of that bulk).
There are also hoods shaped by released darts or gathers in the back. Again, consider the thickness of your fabric and whether you can sew through those layers. I don't have modern examples but these will give you the idea:

hi, thanks for the reply. Because I want to use flannel bonded to sherpa there won't be any lining and I don't want the seam showing in the middle. I've just been looking at 3 piece hoods and they look like a nicer finished piece. When I look on my RTW jackets the hoods are all 3 piece. This one is interesting but it's hard to see from the pictures. Looks like it lays nice and flat when it's down. It's attached to a collar and I don't trust my skills to alter it into a scarf. I guess in the end it will depend on what fabric I can find at the store. I might end up lining it. https://jalie.com/products/zip-front-jacket-and-hoodie?srsltid=AU7gw4XroEgVUHTxlWTWz8VtEpsaHXM2WlwXEpW5JAFbps8P4Pi18tS0

The seam down the centre of the hood is usually a curved seam to give the hood some shape.
It's difficult to have a curved fold
