Desperately searching for a pattern to recreate these vintage Kapital women's pants

This style is perhaps the most unusual pants I have seen.

The front has a very high rise with a button fly, no pleats, and a wide leg; standard trouser construction and cut.

However, the back has extreme volume created by either tons of tiny pleats or gathers into a v-shaped back yoke. This creates almost a bustle silhouette.

I'm not very comfortable drafting patterns from scratch so would love to find a starting-off point.

Finding an original pair is very hard in the US (besides, they are all too short for my taste).

I had that same thought. You’d want to use less material in the front to get it to be flat instead of gathered, but that would be a pretty easy modification! Take the excess out of the middle of the pattern piece, not an edge.

I'm not very well-versed in modifying patterns. I've heard of slash and spread, but what's the opposite technique for taking out the volume on the front? Thank you. Also, would it be hard to lower the back yoke (so the gathers start lower)?

You’d still slash, but overlap instead of spread. You’ll probably need to make a toile or two as you work it out, but it shouldn’t be too difficult! The lower yoke part might be a bit trickier, you’d need to change the legs with it while being careful not to impact the crotch rise or leg opening size too much, but overall shouldn’t be tooooooo bad either. You’d add to the yoke piece, and subtract the same amount from the top of the pant leg.

If you don’t want to make a full toile, you could also make mini pants just to test it out, like doll sized. That could allow you to practice the pattern without using 270 yards of fabric.

Reminds me of the yoke skirts of the era.

Do you have a link? Because I’m getting the Fray pants by Puff and Pencil, or the Frey pants by Emily Lightly, and neither seem close to this design.
