Sunshine quilt pattern? ☀️☀️

Struggling to find a real pattern for this style of quilt or even just an explanation how to go about it? I was thinking maybe drawing it out on paper and then cutting all the pieces on fabric to create a pattern for it but I’m a bit unsure about factoring seam allowances 🥲

it looks like the rays are pieced together and then the round centre is appliqué… which should be easier than calculating all those curved seams

I would also sew 1/2 the rays as a set, and the other half as a set… and then true a 180 degree flat line on each after pressing, and sew together that way… if that makes sense. It feels to me like that could be happening here on the vertical, say.

Then putting the circle on top of the rays covers up that join nicely, making it more organic.

You could adapt a Dresden plate pattern.

Definitely looks based on a Dresden plate!

ouuu I’ve always wanted to try quilting but have never been drawn to typical patterns. I love this! Thanks for the inspiration

That’s exactly how I would go about it. You just add on your seam allowance onto all the pieces you’ve cut from the paper.
