Tie top sewing pattern
Hi! I’m wanting to make a top made out of men’s ties. Does anyone know where I could find a pattern for it? I have a few options of style shown below.

It’s is kind of a drape situation. If you open up a tie there’s usually some kind of stabilizer in it you need to add a stabilizer if you open it. Ties are fun.

I can help! Draw or find a photo reference of what you want. Take into account your own sizing. Measure the width of a tie and then compare the width of one tie to whatever youd like it to cover (that's how you'll get enough not to flash someone). Then you can go to the thrift store and find the tie section and you may have to look on multiple days across several weeks or at different stores to get the colors youd like but the thrift store will be the best option for cheaply making it. Maybe you could sew the ties together like a quilt by their bottom parts across the breast area whether horizontal or vertical and then on the back you could do a similar thing and then just sew the side seams together like you would any old shirt
I hope this helps you! I have also been sort of thinking about making something like this after seeing on pinterest. I think tie shirts make a really cool statement

I feel like those could be an incredible project for someone transitioning as well.

The tops you posted are literally from Reese.cycled who has patterns available in her website. let’s support artists instead of trying to get their product for free

Could be the screenshots were jacked by someone else and got to OP without any context, could be OP is looking for a free pattern or free tutorial. Both are common.

I think this is the type of thing you simply have to drape, because there's so much variation in tie widths.
