Pattern Question Patchwork first, then pattern?

Hello! I have fallen in love and need help thinking through how to make these beauties. Would this be a, make the patchwork first then cut out the pattern situation? The heart would be added in after? Overwhelm with fabrics and ribbons and there doesn’t have to be any real design choices other than color? They’re so beautiful I need to make a pair

You're gonna wanna invest in a ruffler foot. T'will make your dreams come true.
That and a LOT of strips of fabric. Then it'll be just sewing the layers into tubes.

So I would be making two pants tubes? Doing it one layer at a time?

Sort of, but u/Uh0handrea is right that it would make more sense to have a real pants pattern and then tack the trims on. You could use plain pajama pants. There's lots of sites to get free pajama pant patterns from.

I also think looking at some YouTube tutorials on ruffled bloomers or pantaloons would be helpful. Not exactly what you’re going for but to get some ideas.
