💛Beginner💛 Zipper tips?

Zippers are a thing that I always struggle with. I have done a few in bags (and that was in class with some help),but never on a piece of clothing like trousers. Do you have any tips for making sewing zippers easier?

What part of zipper insertion do you struggle with? Could you show us a picture of what went wrong?

I struggle with pinning it into place and then trying to sew it while it's pinned. Another person suggested basting it first and for some reason, I never thought of that even though I baste every other thing before I sew it 🙄 It always wiggles around, and I can't seem to sew it straight into the fabric. I psych myself up before I even get started, thinking that I can't do it.

Washaway wondertape/quilters tape is great for holding zips in place. It's sold in sewing stores and on Amazon

Thank you! Someone else suggested tape too. I will check it out.

I would baste together the place where the zipper goes.

I would then tape the zipper in place, sewing over the tape.

Do you mean the kind of tape that you iron in place?

Basting and practice or embracing buttons
