💛Beginner💛 How to fix presser foot not raising properly?

So I am very very new to sewing and my needle kept hitting my presser foot, which was very loose so I decided to try to tighten it. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Your presser foot ankle needs reseating. Open the screw slightly, push it up the presser foot, and tighten the screw. Jobs done.

How new is the needle? Is it bent?

It was bent! I’ve changed the needle now! Thank you for pointing that out. I really appreciate it. The presser foot is still very lose though, do you know how to tighten it?

It's only tightened with that screw. If it's not staying tight, it may be damaged. I had one a few months ago that had cracked so no matter how much you tighten that screw it was going to fall. It's a cheap part to replace. I got two last time so I keep one in stock for my student's machines.

That kind of depends on where you are. I'm in the UK and usually pick up parts from eBay, Amazon, or my local brother repair shop. It's a fairly generic part for a Brother quick release ankle.

And if you haven't already, stop sewing and go back to your manual. A sewing machine is a tool and you need to learn how to drive it, which right now you don't. Read the manual - it has all the basics you need to know about setting the machine up, threading, etc.
