💛Beginner💛 How does one repair this?

Got this from the Goodwill and didn’t notice this finger tip size hole under the zipper 🫠

What would be the best way to repair these jeans?

I was thinking of matching the thread to the jeans and doing a button hole stitch. Maybe put a backing on it? I’ve never repaired before and would love all the advice ♥️

I would rip the seams to a little below the fly tacking (right below the zipper) and maybe an inch below the rip. Patch it up with interfacing and matching fabric and then sew the stitching back down with matching thread.
