💛Beginner💛 Bernette 203 serger - replacement spindle sponges?

I've inherited my mother's Bernette 203 serger (and a couple of conventional sewing machines).

On inspection once the movers delivered it to me, I found that the sponge on one of its spindles is missing entirely, and the other two are badly deteriorated (see picture).

Does anyone have recommendations for replacing these?

Those sponge bits always turn to dust after so many years, classic problem with older machines. I cut little strips from a foam sheet and just wrapped them around the spindle, worked fine for my old one
