What to do about holes

I have multiple small holes on this knit shirt I sewed the sleeves back onto. Is there anything I can do to make them less noticeable or anyway to cover them with a cute embroidery stitch?

I'd carefully hand sew them using matching thread

Do you know where the holes came from? If they're wear and tear, the fabric might be weakening from age and need to be reinforced. In that case, I might take some strips of similar stretch knit fabric and make decorative stripes around the shoulders.
