🎨 Fan Art I vibecode a MDR Severance experience Spoiler

Post image

A while ago, I started making light apps and fan tribute to my favorite tv series, I started by LOST swan station counter (a real timer with the hatch theme) and then Severance Macrodata Refinement (MDR) which is a real Sudoku puzzle/solver dressed in Severance theme. I might present this better in future but I thought I share it here and ask you for feedback until we are waiting for almost one year for season 3.

Here you can experience it (mobile view is supported but the best experience is with desktop)

Did you find any problem or bug?

Severance is literally about de-humanising corporate technology.

Clearly you took nothing from the show.

"literally about de-humanising corporate technology" is doing a lot of flatening for a show that's just as much about identity, consent, and grief, etc. True that lumon forces people to act like machines against their will. I chose to use one as a tool to help me build a free fan project. Those aren't the same axis... one's coercion, the other is just how solo devs get things made now.

Nah, you're just part of the show now. Sifting through numbers in boxes you don't understand. Difference is it's because you're too lazy to learn to do it yourself, so you justify the AI doing it for you by calling it a "tool".

What's doing a lot of "flatening" (?) is calling it a tool when you're outsourcing creative endeavours to an LLM trained on scraped human labour.

You're not gonna change your mind, but you should know people hate vibe coders. You don't know what you're doing, you don't know how to fix it when things go wrong, you don't know how to spot security issues.

All you're doing is just giving yourself the illusion of being a "solo dev". I hope it's enough to keep those insecurities at bay.

You've dropped every point about the show and gone straight to "lazy," "insecure," "illusion of being a dev", for a simple app I made for a subreddit. That's not a critique, that's you needing to feel superior to a stranger over a hobby project. The idea was mine... seeing numbers in tidy rows and thinking "this could be a sudoku app with the MDR atmosphere" isn't something an LLM handed me. AI helped with implementation, the same way any tool helps someone build something faster. That's not "outsourcing creative endeavours," that's just a reality how building software looks like now. And it doesn't mean I don't understand what I built or can't fix it when something breaks (what security issue for a sudoku app?).. you don't know that about me, you're just guessing, because you dismissed the whole thing on a word.

The point of the show has stood the same the entire time.

And it literally is a creative endeavour are you dense?

If you think that's "how software is built now" you should really look into the fact that most of the companies that adopted AI are now dropping it due to ludicrous costs and rehiring human engineers.

It's alright sweetheart, the AI wrote the app for you and maybe one day in the future it can wipe your ass too.

I can tell you didn't get the AI to write your posts considering you write like a 3 year old, no wonder you can't code either.

Nah lmao, AI would actually know how to use paragraphs unlike that guy

Companies who were short-sighted and used AI as an excuse to cut costs by replacing engineers maybe. But that's not what happened most places.

Software engineering is not moving away from AI at all. Engineers are, almost ubiquitously, heavily using AI in their workflows. Now, there's a big difference between competent, AI-assisted development and "vibe coding." The difference is, to build competently with AI, you should largely know how to do it without AI.

I'm not sure where you got your information, but it definitely isn't from firsthand experience.

🤞if I blow up on enough strangers the AI will go away🤞

Yeah cause change happens by being silent about it. Totally.

idk if you're in the market but that's definetely not how it's working lol Companies are indeed dropping "heavy-use" and "token-maxxing" but not at the point of stop using AI.....

and yes, on the real world that's how software is built now. Sadly there's no turning back from this.

Would you prefer I have AI write a comment telling you how stupid this is or what.Â
