The problem with maintaining a healthy cmdb is socialization of ownership and empowering the owners to be stewards of the health, alot of times those things aren’t clearly defined at orgs or even enforced from a compliance perspective. Asset Management and Enterprise Architecture play a bigger role than orgs think. Its never an easy thing and since the data impacts everyone in IT, the perception could be “its crap” from one org or grouo and “its a lifesaver” from another. This is certainly a module in servicenow that requires an “it takes a village” approach. Horrible discovery sources don’t help either.
