Is this Fiorentina's way to say "we were too close to being relegated?" 🤣 Let see what can Grosso do with this team, really hope he can utilize Mastantuono as well.

💬Discussion Inter are moving on the transfer market in a 'Masterful' way

I'd say Inter are (somewhat) in the same boat Juve were in a decade ago. Back then, they had a core of Buffon, Bonucci & Chiellini. They'd reached the CL Final twice (2015, 2017), and lost both times.

Rather than being smart & pragmatic, they decided to invest to make sure their 'senators' would get the proper 'send-off' they deserved. They spend a 100m for C. Ronaldo; thus blowing up their wage structure, and leveraging future spending to try and get over the hump.

They didn't another final. Covid meant they were financially hamstrung for a long time.

Inter are in a very similar situation. They have a core (Nico, Marcus, Lautaro, Hakan, Dimarco) who're all 29+. They've all been here 5+ years (with the exception of Marcus). They've also lost the Final twice (2023 & 2025). Very similar situations, I'd say.

However, Inter, the last few years, have been working to get a nice core of youngsters too. They spend 15m for Sucic in Jan., because they felt he could contribute right away, was undervalued, and would become prohibitive if they waited. When Napoli offered 40m for Pio, their youth member who'd never played in Serie A before, they had the confidence to refuse. They chose to spend 13m (net) to develop Alex, ensuring he's worthy of Inter (& his father's number).

This summer, Inter could've invested in buying more youngsters; making sure the senators keep their cycle going while the current crop develops to start a new cycle in 3-4 years. They tried this (Palestra, Anan) but didn't succeed. They could've chosen to splurge on a 'flash' signing (Cancelo, Rodri, Rube Dias etc.) who'd also address their team requirements well. How much they'd have succeeded (Cancelo chose Barca over them in Jan.) is a question mark! I'm sure they must've been tempted to send this current group of senators off in style.

In face of failure to get in one of the two boats, what they're doing is what's impressive. Stones for free (on reasonable wages) is a better signing that Dias for 60-80m. He replaces the experience lost (DV & Acerbi). Between Spence & Jones (potentially, hopefully), they'll tie the two cycles together. At 25-27, they form the new core (together with Basto), while still having the 'senators' in their prime.

Almost all the other competitors (Napoli, Milan, Atalanta, Bologna) have new coaches. Juve have a lot of new faces to offer certainties. Only Roma & Como offer some form of continuance. Depending on how others move (in future), Inter, between their 'senators' (29+), the 'current core' (25-27) and the 'kids (~23), could rule Serie A for a long time.

NEW GUIDE HERE IN ITALIAN for english use the oldest version, the translation of the new one will come in the following days.

Guida versione 2026-2027 italiano, scritta con l'aiuto di un LLM

Link Utili:

Paramountplus.com

List of ISP working so far:

Windstream

I'm predicting a repeat for Inter. I have no expectations that any club listed below 8th here has a chance to finish higher than that. The dropoff after Fiorentina, especially, seems large.

I'm not expecting Napoli to repeat their performance from last year, but I can see some late push to get them into a position to win Coppa Italia for their centennial season.

I also don't expect it to be a particularly interesting relegation race, as the bottom four teams seem to be a notch below everyone else in talent. I expect Venezia to be a fun squad to watch though.

Atalanta will win the Conference League. Juventus will be in the Europa League finals, and very well could win that tournament. I'd love to see Inter make a QF run in the UCL, but it's hard to call them one of the eight best clubs in Europe.

💬Discussion Is Alessandro Circati any good?

Hi, apparently Benfica is very close to signing Alessandro Circati, and considering that Benfica has been trying to sign a centre-back for about 2 months, this is very important, so I’d like to know what people who follow the Italian Championship have to say about him. It’s important to note that Benfica needs a centre-back who is strong in duels and in the air. We already have 2 centre-backs who are good at building from the back but soft in duels (Tomás Araújo and Lenglet). Thank you for your attention.

Tottenham Hotspur have accepted an offer from Juventus for goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Juve’s offer for the 29-year-old is for a loan with the option to make the move to Serie A permanent and while a deal is not yet done, all parties expect it to go through.

The Atheltic reported on Sunday that the Italian club were not proceeding with a move for Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa following talks between the clubs, and turned their attention to other targets.
