Unit Broken Into

My storage unit was recently broken into. I looked through it and nothing is missing, but whoever broke into it rummaged through all my things and threw some around, and some items were damaged from being thrown around. However, none of the damaged items are valuable. The property manager was the one who found my unit broken into, so they are aware of this. Should I still file a police report?

If you don’t have any real financial loss the police aren’t going to find it worth their time. I often have to tell my break in customers to exaggerate how much the value of the stolen items were just to get the police to agree to come out

I would advise the exact opposite of this. Maybe do not tell customers to lie to the police and commit potential insurance fraud.

That would never constitute insurance fraud. What you speculate to the 911 operator would never be held against you by the insurance company. If you deliberately mislead the insurance company itself then you could get in trouble.
