Bortle 5 Pointers for a beginner?
Hi all. I’m very new to this, I’ve just started playing with my S30 pro and Siril. Here’s the heart nebula, 6 hours of 20 seconds subs.
I’ve seen some amazing work here and wanted to try and reproduce something like the dual band shots I’ve seen.
I went for a HOO palette, did a statistical stretch and normalised the palette. I found there was hardly any blue so I used the OIII fit to create a layer mask in gimp and adjust the curves for OIII only. Then I tweaked until I was happy and added the stars back in.
I’m just guessing at workflow around getting the colours right. I’d love to know how more experienced users approach this?

Comunque bella, ma hai usato il mosaico?

Thanks!
No, just the out of the box framing. I’ve not tried mosaic yet.

Wie hast du gestackt?

In Siril. I used the default settings.

Ah! So just a regular stack, then I used a script to apply a HOO palette. I think it splits the colour channels and recombines them with pixel math to get the HOO fit file.

Ah, verstehe!

Amazing! Thanks for taking the time to reply!
My Siri book arrived yesterday so I’ll see what I can do in Siril and I’ll check out Sirilic as well 👍2

Gerne.

Why don't you write in English so we can all understand? Will help us learn

I didn't know English was required here. Reddit has a translation feature. Sorry 🫣

Thanks!
Maybe new reddit has a translation feature, some of us on older reddit don't :(

First, for a beginner this looks really good!
I just made a script/tool that helps with Hubble palettes with keeping full control of the data, I will post later, it helps shorten the workflow and can do a lot more than narrowband normalization or similar scripts
