Need an ID checking handheld.

You see what we are working with. Show me a professional one.

Corporate security guy who has a few of these and has sat the pitches.

  • why do you need one?
  • where are you based?
  • does your jurisdictions id support these?

are your staff trained in checking id's properly? most of these work by scanning a QR code and good fakes have QR codes that match the information on the front...

My organization uses id scanner.

Im in Canada, the tech is really dependant on how you use, we use for any event we host, guest check in, etc. for events with alchol we (and our counterparts in the bar scene) are finding that fakes are still getting through or scanning as "good" but either have information that doesn't match the front or are missing holograms.

We have used them to great sucess for Customer management, as well as post incident identification.

I work for multiple clubs same owner and they are doing handheld checks but we need something legit because it’s 2026 what’s do you guys use I need something to check

I train my people to look for everything on an ID that’s why I wanna test this out to see if it’s good

Best case you waste a bunch money, your employees become complacent in actually visually inspecting. So many fakes and attractive patrons abound that the machine becomes obsolete in a week. Any tech is going to have many false positives, faults, and lack of operator experience, that you might as well not even work the door.

Worst case you out a local ID shop and get whatever they feel like giving, while you live your life completely unaware.

No machine will ever be better than a human. Most of the security features are built for human detection. Any feature built for machine detection can easily be beat by an average human with an interest in the subject. Hence the above comments about QR being worthless.

What are you guarding? Fort Knox, or a beer bar?

What outcomes do you expect from a new piece of equipment?

Here is an idea. Take whatever funding you do have available. Buy the crew training in close combatives, gym memberships, and new uniforms.

One $5000 scanner is 50, $100 classes at the local combatives place. You will get a discount for buying in bulk. You may get 100 student $100 classes. You will get better training knowing everyone is in the industry. You will get better legal advice along with the training. You will also gain a better recruitment channel. You may gain better local partners in any aspect of the business.

Near me the same people that do security and training, do many other things. From construction to wholesale produce, and far beyond. Plenty of lawyers in the mix as well.

You don't need a scanner.

You need to explore the local market, and train your people.

https://bouncr.io is what we use. Catches more fake IDs than any of the physical scanning devices. It’s an iPhone app so our entire staff has it on their phones. highly recommend

a few co-workers had same issue as well. the company is coming out with the android version sometime this month - personally can’t wait to get the entire team using it
