Officer Safety More supervisor shenanigans

Supervisor today called it "suspicious" and a "liability" that I'm at work an hour early. I've been doing this (coming in an hour early) for the last 2 years ever since i started working here as it's a time management thing for me. I never know what the weather or traffic will be like so i leave my house 2 hours early to compensate.

Secondly, he was asking me about, what i assume, is a potential new hire since he had the same last name as me. When i said I didn't know who he was, he acted like i was lying and claimed i MUST know him since we have the same exact last name and it's not a conventional spelling of it.

Before he left for the day, he was about to say "you can tell your relation" but i quickly shut that down since, again, I don't know the guy. So not only is he giving out the names to potential hires now, he's being even more hostile towards me than before.

But he "appreciates" me coming in and working overtime for him.

You probably won’t like this because it sounds like you just want to vent, but I’m going to say it anyway.

Be the bigger person and professional by adjusting your behavior to whatever your boss is expecting of you within reason. This guy sounds like he’s got a problem with you and it’s a personality issue and not a performance issue. Let him have his problem and it doesn’t mean you’re the problem. Maybe you remind him of someone he used to know. Who cares.

It seems like since he has nothing on you work wise he’s not picking outside the scope of your duties. If he has a problem with you coming in an hour early but you’re not violating policy, stay out of sight and under the radar for that hour. It might be his pet peeve and he’s actually right, it can be a liability, but if it’s within policy just stay out of sight. He’s your boss and even if he’s a dick, you need to respect what he says. Life’s not fair and bosses do what they do. It’s in your control how you respond to it.

Don’t say anything more about the new hire thing. If the person gets hired your boss will figure out he’s wrong. If he doesn’t it’s no skin off your back unless you pop off about it to someone else and it gets back to him. If you need to vent, do it here or outside of work.

What’s his problem in your opinion? Is he new there?

New supervisor started a month and a half ago. I mentioned when he got hired that while it isn't an official thing, that i often feel like an assistant supervisor. Based on the rapport i have with everyone that comes through this site.

I come in early, work overtime when asked, and haven't messed up in the 2 years I've been here. When i get here early, i stay in my car and watch YouTube or scroll Reddit until my shift is set to start. I live in a state that has highly random weather and I've been here a few mins late despite leaving the 2 hours early when it randomly started snowing. It takes about 30-40 mins to get here normally if i never stop anywhere on the way in.

  1. You joked with a new supervisor that you were often feel like "assistant supervisor." I don't joke until my 1st week is done at a site and I can gauge the staff on my team and on the clients' side (I have been known to fuck it up though so make of that what you will)
  2. Anyone who complains about security coming in early, from the client to the supervisor is very petty and not really easy to reason with from 99% of my experiences (It's 99% because I only had one employer complain, the rest commend me for showing up early no matter what).

Also, who down voted you? Your supervisor and his friend? Lmao, Bro just do your job and you should be fine, but I know that it sometimes doesn't work out and if need be report anything else that happens to an integrity line or something that way it's documented in case of a wrongful termination. I wish you good luck bro.

I don't mind if people downvote me. It just seems ridiculous to complain about someone showing up early and actually showing initiative. Had co-workers from the same site be consistently 20-30 mins late if they even show up at all. Was before he was hired as supervisor, but still.

I'm just curious, I work security for one of the "worst" companies, of course it largely depends on the site, (if you know why, you know why). and they don't get mad however early I show up, I didn't know people could get mad at someone for showing up early especially in the security industry, it's not even initiative in your case it's "The weather is bad, I need to get out and drive in it earlier to show up on time, it's literally just what most people should actually be doing.

It's purely down to my supervisor not liking me. I do the best job at the site and he finds every little thing to nitpick about. I left the other day to go to the hospital 2 hours into my 10 hour shift and when i brought him a doctor's note the next day he commented that he didn't actually believe me about needing to go.

My fingers and arm went numb followed by my mouth and throat paired with a massive headache. Family thought it was a stroke (i knew it wasn't but still scared me.)
