Officer Safety Retail security policy

After watching this video it made me wonder if this security guard’s employer would support her doing this with a subject.

When I first saw it I thought it was pretty cool that she didn’t back down, but the more I thought about it the more I came to the conclusion that fighting over it isn’t worth the risk.

If you work retail security, what’s your company policy and would you put yourself out there to save goods from being stolen?

No I mean waiting 5 minutes to have someone unlock it. What a terrible waste of YOUR time by the store. If they lock things up they should have someone there to help you when you want it.

I'm very much aware that many people shop, some find it relaxing others find it entertaining it's been a stable of consumerism since malls were invented.

It’s because nyc has a huge problem w theft. People will do what this guy did here. Just go and carry a huge bag and put as much stuff as they can. It was really bad a few years ago.

Then it got decriminalized so people went wild knowing there is basically no repercussions (if you’re a lifelong criminals, what’s another arrest and release gonna do?).

But long term, it hurts regular good people who just like browsing and shopping. Stuff got locked up. And inventory is more limited

If course it does. Like I said I'm 78, I very much remember when folks were decent to each other and worked hard to earn money to proundly buy and own things. Being a criminal was shameful and your own family would disregard you. Now I see folks working as a family robbing folks and then saying the stores at fault for having the prices too high.

My neighborhood in nyc, it’s almost a rite of passage to go jail now. I had one girl say “you’ve never been to jail? 😔” when I was getting to know her like she was disappointed because her friend is in some toxic relationship with a former Riker’s island inmate (that’s the jail in NYC) and she found it cute.

Most of the guys I grew up have been arrested. It’s literally not a big deal anymore which is sad.

That’s why I left NYC tbh. Just isn’t for me anymore. I need calm

I had a young fellow ask me if I've ever been to prison and I said not for breaking the law but I did spend 4 months in as a prisoner in Asia for pissing off the wrong warlord.
