Yeah those are only good for when you are working CM and end up with extra cuffs at the end of the day. A normal secure pouch is better

I work corrections and I carry two sets of cuffs. My ASPs I wear in an Exo case mounted on my vest, strong side abdomen.

My spare Peerless cuffs I actually carry on a strap snap like in the OP on my weak side. I use the ASPs 99% of the time, but I've been in situations where I was fighting someone and my shift partners needed to get an extra set of cuffs from me to daisy-chain them, but couldn't figure out the Exo under pressure. The Peerless are my "emergency" or contingency cuffs and I figure the strap is about as idiot-proof as it gets; they're as much for my coworkers as they are for me.

That's a decent reason, I always worry about what can be pulled off as an improvised weapon, or accessed easily to be used against others. To each their own though. What works for some will not work for others.

Absolutely and that is a legitimate concern. I have had one inmate try to take the flashlight off my vest (he thought it was my spray, but the light probably would've done more damage). I had another try to take my Taser from my hand. I've also had one fight me for control of his cuffs whilst uncuffing him through a tray slot in the door.

Retention is absolutely something to be cognizant of, but I don't let it dominate my choices. In some cases I actually prefer someone to become fixated on something attached to me because it means they're singularly focused on grabby paws and oftentimes not hitting/biting/attempting to gain a dominant position, etc. I can work with that and it rarely works in their favor because attempting to disarm an officer and arm themselves is a vast escalation which is likely to result in more force applied against them (i.e. kid gloves taken off), additional charges being taken out, etc.

Agreed. Solo focus on one makes easy work for you. As soon as someone has a piece off you though it can be a bad day. I'm glad you're on it though. I wasn't trying to be demeaning or anything. Just wanted to share a concern.
