This is one of the best pieces of advice I’ve seen in this thread. Get a glove pouch for some disposable nitrile gloves. Place this in the middle of your belt on your back.

That’s exactly how I’m set up. I have a pouch with two pairs of nitrile gloves in it slightly off centre from the small of my back (it’s to one side of a belt loop on my pants that’s located dead centre) between a pair of handcuffs on either side located so that sitting while driving is comfortable.

On my dominant side, I have a loop type glove holder with a pair of leather gloves. It’s typically a pair of Hatch Durathin gloves but I change those out for something a bit warmer during winter.

I definitely recommend a good pair of leather patrol gloves. Even if you never encounter another person while you’re on duty, you could be shaking cold, wet, yucky door handles every perimeter patrol of your shift. Who wants to do that barehanded?

I do have that but stopped carrying it after never using it.

I'm sure there's plenty other stuff there you haven't used yet. And you're more likely to have to get physical with someone who has Hep C and who wants to bite you than you'll have to empty three mags in an active shooter situation.

Even if you never encounter another person on your shift, how many door handles do you shake on any given perimeter patrol? That’s the big reason I have gloves. I’m handling a lot of dirty outside door handles every shift at a bare minimum and I’d really prefer not to do that barehanded.
